Most of the time, you might be right. In times like this, it is very wrong.
But no matter what, it’s important to go vote. Vote no matter how you think your state will go. Maybe you’ll be disappointed most of the time, but every once in a while, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Mississippi was never in play. It was a safe Republican state. Democrats didn’t spend money in Mississippi. The wins in Kansas, Iowa, and Texas were already major upsets. Alaska, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida going down as election night battlegrounds are events that will find their way into the pages of history books. People will study this election cycle for decades.
Your vote matters.
If your vote didn’t matter, Elon Musk wouldn’t have just spent $500m trying to buy it.
The man spent far more for twitter because he is a thin-skinned baby. He has made the most of his fuckup, but let’s not attribute to him a grand strategy where there may not be one.
The man spent far more for twitter because he is a thin-skinned baby.
He spent as much as he did because he’s a fucking idiot and thought he could get out even after making a promise to buy at a set price and waiving due diligence. It was actually cheaper to severely over pay than deal with the contract penalties.
Yeah people really need to remember or otherwise research that whole mess. Long story short Musk didn’t even initially want twitter but was more or less legalistically forced to buy it.
Does that prove that money in politics doesn’t matter?
No.
People underestimate the importance of winning by a large margin. Every extra vote widens the gap and tells the losers what they are doing sucks and to change or fuck off.
Win by a small amount and they see opportunities to cast doubt and claim its a lie.
Win by big numbers and… they might still claim it was stolen, but the mostly normal people don’t buy into that. People feel more empowered and expect their politicians to do what they said they would do.
Notice how Trump isn’t talking about a stolen election.
The vote margin is so big this time around even Trump doesn’t want to use the bullshit excuse.
I think every now and then trump decides to listen to advice once he’s heard it 1000 times. I’m guessing he was too stupid to realize he shouldn’t reuse this ridiculous lie again, but rather a chorus of advisors have pleaded with him for months not to. Maybe the last straw was how wide the gap is, but I say never underestimate the depths of his idiocy.
I heard him speak and he sounds completely defeated and disheartened and it was music to my ears.
Enough people took him seriously when he said something like 'you'll never need to vote again' that they decided never to vote again.

He often parrots the last thing somebody charismatic said to him. Thats why he was talking completely different about Medicare after meeting Obama the first time and same is happening when hes meeting Mamdani. As soon as hes running out of charismatic people surrounding him, he just falls back to brainrot hallucinations.
Vote even if you only care about local elections! You WILL see results from that.
State and local elections are even more important than federal elections. Not only is your voice louder, but the more local an election is, the more likely it is to impact your day to day life.
but the more local an election is, the more likely it is to impact your day to day life.
To a degree…
But a state house representative is likely to impact my day-to-day much more than, say, a county treasurer.
Yes, if there’s anything this election can teach us (and there are many things it can teach us), it’s this: VOTING MATTERS!
When we vote, we win. Simple as.
The Muskrat spent half a billion dollars to convince people not to vote. And the dumb fucks online who think they’re “holier than thou” for not voting are the ones who gobbled up his propaganda. I’m glad it didn’t work this election.
I think if we could magically talk sense into those dumb fucks, the blue wave would’ve been noticeably bigger. But yes, I too am glad they didn’t fuck this one up.
“I live in a red state and don’t vote / vote 3rd party”…
This was my last time voting in Texas after 26 years. Next up I will be voting in Wyoming where my countyis the only blue dot in a sea of red. Just like it was when I moved to Texas. maybe I’ll see one more flip before I kick the bucket.
Maybe you’re our lucky talisman
You’re right. To Florida with you!
Congratulations on your move to Wyoming! If money were no object, NW Wyoming is one of the Top 5 places I want to retire lol
Just like how I hope to see Oklahoma flip in my lifetime, I hope you get what you want, too.
I bought in Teton county before COVID-19 hit. No way I could afford it now. Absolutely beautiful place full of good people and a great community. There’s a reason why billionaires come here to disconnect and hide.
It’s so gorgeous there and so few people, it’s like heaven. I’d retire there myself.
Yes, if the voting rate was much higher in these states they would do better, with better policies that the majority want, but don’t show up to demand like this time!
Every election there is at least one contest with a margin of less than 100 votes. You never know what one it will be. Vote!!! It always matters
I mean let’s see what the democrats actually do before getting too smug…
At least for Texas, their voting record speaks for themselves.
I wish people had looked at Harris’s voting record instead of her campaign messaging.
I mean her campaign messaging was what she wanted us to know or think before the election. If she couldn’t even bring herself to lie properly then that’s that. Also she’s a cop so like yeah. For knowledge’s sake, though, what was her voting record like?
It was the closest to Sanders out of the Senate at the time.
The first thing a Mississippi democrat would probably do is outlaw being trans in public
They should have a rule where it’s really close. Rather than re-count, they should re-open. But only for anyone who didn’t vote already.
The people who would suddenly want to vote after an election turns out close need to learn to just fucking vote when they’re supposed to like the rest of us did.
That seems ripe for abuse, I agree with the other commenter that those people should’ve just voted on time in the first place
I come from a country with mandatory voting. You guys are missing out.
The vote not mattering thing almost always regards the Electoral College for the Presidential election.
Or it is used in a vague or imprecise way to stoke arguments.
Will the new Democrat majority force an end to the Iran conflict? Will they stop approving arms and cash to Israel?
That’s a negative ghostrider. There’s no reply and only downvotes on this comment, but we all know the answers
Will the new Democrat majority force an end to the Iran conflict?
Almost certainly, as much as they can do within the power of Congress when the other two branches of government are still against them.
Will they stop approving arms and cash to Israel?
Probably not.
But, hey, 1/2 is a lot better than 0/2
Important questions. My sense is not on their own but with pressure from the public maybe.
Iran seems more likely as it has more economic salience. Plus I think the unfortunate reality is that most Americans are in the process of forgetting about Palestine. If they ever paid attention in the first place.
If Americans are don’t care about Israel-Palestine then why is AIPAC changing its entire approach and legal method of for donating money?
