Tbh I think the only thing about Liquidass I hate is the transparency and lighting. If they wouldn’t make that shit see through reflective glass with white text on top, it would actually be kinda fire and pretty. But it’s a fucking eyestrain for non-visually impaired people, so I imagine it must be torture for the visually impared.

But i like rounded corners, I like the smooth feel to it, and I do like (minimal) shininess. The clay look of the apps is pretty cute too. But I hate Apple anything so I’m here on GOS with the flat Material You design, which is a smidge cute and “arts-and-crafts” like, but could use more pop.

  • Nah, Cromite doesn’t allow extensions. Other than the built in ones, it doesn’t do extensions. There was another Chromium android browser that could do extensions, Kiwi I think. But it was a smidge shady how it did its search queries so I’d avoid it.

And side note: Cromite’s Fdroid repo link is shot. It’s been down for me for month, and I tried disabling VPN or switching to other countries and i either get a timeout or not found error, similsr to this forum post. So like I’d have to keep downloadong apks to keep it up to date, and I’d rather just pray every website i use works on FF than do that.

  • I mean, I know what it’s like to have “tourists” invading your space after some trend blows up, but there could very much be a new wave of people who have grown to love or enjoy a sea shanty or two now. If people aren’t introduced to something, how would they ever know they like it?

If a person liked a venre enough to make a playlist, I’d say they’re enough of a fan. It’s like people who are discovering the fun in “classical” (baroque, classical, romantic, etc.) music.

  • TIL Klarna is Swedish. But they’ve been popular in the US since before/around COVID.

Anyway, Klarna is a shitty by-now-pay-later (BNPL) payment service that allows you to “finance” everyday pruchases on websites. Don’t you love it when you go into debt over paying for your Temu clothes, your video game DLC, and your Amazon Fresh purchases?

IP law in JP is absolutely atrocious, Japanalysis did a video a bit ago about it. Like, WIKIPEDIA can’t even use official images or merch for their pages, so they just use shitty pics similar to the thing, like this pic of a dude cosplaying Squirtle:

Youtubers/streamers can get sued for revealing the whole plot of a game I guess, so don’t play too much of an RPG or Visual Novel game… Actually, Atlus, a Japanese companu owned by SEGA, put a gameplay limit on Persona 5 when it first came out and told streamers that they couldn’t stream past a certain date! Scarlet Nexus did similar “no streaming” shit but like, on the whole game and I think it flopped lol.

For some weird reason, Doujinshi (self published manga) is allowed and flourishes, despite it literally being just fan manga/comic/fiction of some other media. And like, WILD fan depictions too (All those yaoi doujin of Naruto, Ace Attorney, Hetalia, etc.). I love doujin but it’s fucking hypocritical imo to get mad at people for posting official content on a damn wiki site but let them sell manga of characters fucking 😅 i should research the reason honestly.

Idk if it really does affect how these companies respond but it fucking sucks to keep killing fan projects, ESPECIALLY if they make no money. I get why anything that makes money shouldn’t have a copyrighted IP or material in it but companies will be assholes.

  • Did some very light searching and it seems to be each country has it’s own thing going on. I know LINE is super popular but it’s mostly only in Japan (and kinda Korea too), while Korea has Kakao Talk. India and SEA region countries apparently love WhatsApp but Telegram does make up the lesser half of the traffic too.

But yeah WeChat and other Chinese apps have huge userbases but are pretty much only used by Chinese people. Hell, each country/region basically just uses their messaging app. Some of these apps have 97-99% of internet users and 90+% of the country’s ENTIRE POPULATION using that app to communicate. It’d probably be devastating if the service ever had a blackout for some reason.

The USA has a way bigger variety it seems, the highest market share for messaging apps is WhatsApp but only at 25%. The top 3 is WhatsApp, Discord (23%), and Telegram (20.8%). The other 30.1% of the market is a mosaic, Messenger, Snapchat, even Teams for some godforsaken reason. But hey, Matrix and Viber are 0.4%! At least they made the chart…

Hell, first poster’s name is a little too on the nose for the post too lol. I mean it COULD be a joke account but not sure. I hate Threads and have never used it, so finding this account is probs to hard for me… Idk what the “tweet/post” layout looks like on there. Is there a thread logo on the main post and a heart on replies?
