From Baytree Owl and Raptor Centre
Owls have poor close range eyesight so some species have to use these long whiskers called rictal bristles as an aid to feel to feel for things. Even though Nellie is our smallest flying owl, he has the longest bristles of any of the Owls in our collection.
So handsome!!
I loved this guy in Secret of NIMH.
Chthowlu!
My wife also wanted me to grow a mustache. It looks about as neat as the owl’s.
Mine doesn’t really grow in the center at all, just on the sides. 😖
Better than the other way around
You can style it with wax to make it point outwards!
Try it out, it could make you look dapper.
Owl of the branch, what is thy wisdom?
“Open up that aviary door and I’ll tell ya all I know…I swear…”
