Paid multiplayer, lack of features, no games and banned disc readers.

We don’t know anything about features or games and multiplayer has been paid for last 2 generations (3 for XBOX).

Only worse thing we definitely know about PS6 is lack of physical media. We can also guess that it will be more expensive than previous generations. Rest is just guessing and speculations.

Eh. Xbox Helix won’t have a disc drive either. Only Xbox has uniquely coded its discs, so it can convert physical to digital. And you can use an XB1 (PS4 equivalent) to read Series (PS5 equivalent) discs. You can’t play them but the XB1 will convert them to a digital license. So Helix will have a head start. Sony needs to start letting people mail in PS4/5 discs for digital redemption to catch up, but I bet they won’t.

I would rather have a more expensive console with free multiplayer considering this pc parts market.

That’s a yes for me. I only see myself spending money on a PC, Steam Machine, or Steam Deck 2 going forward.

For anything else, if I’m ever so tempted to buy any other console to play one of its exclusives, it’ll be a secondhand one a generation or two later and I’ll most likely resell it after. And this is only because I want to support developers.

Realistically though emulators are so good now a patient PC user may not even need to ever buy a console.

Emulators have been getting better, and the PC Hardware is higher end so can do with the overhead. But most importantly Xbox or Playstation these days is more and more just an normal computer but with an different OS.

Sony is really out of touch.

I’m not just talking PlayStation, either. I am camera shopping, and Sony’s behavior in that sector is… uh, weird and robotic? Like they have trouble even empathizing with photographers/videographers.

Same with their larger media division.

The constituents of Sony can be amazing, but it’s like their upper leadership lives on the moon now. And that is bad news for the PS6, feature wise. Maybe some games will be good, maybe some design will be excellent. But whatever needs to change, Sony leadership will miss it.

Personally i found the experience on 7th gen consoles so shit already that i switched back to the PC when the 8th gen came around and never looked back.

Its a bit dumb to mime the Nostragamerus after the fact. But i’ve seen the trajectory a long time coming.

Tbf mostly the general vibe and direction the whole industry took at the time. So i didnt want to be locked in a closed walled garden.

Eg giant day one patches, DLCs, MTX, paid online, shitty and slow servers, revoked digital licences(happened to me with Driver SF on the 360), shitty updates to the UI, intentional blocking of last-gen/unlicensed 3rd party peripherals, etc

tbf some aspects were 360 exclusive but the PS4 caught up on most shitty aspects. I liked the aspect of consoles where you just put in the game media and then you played. That was it. Consoles got more complicated with 7th gen while PC gaming got a lot easier with eg Steam at the same time.
