Programming@programming.dev•What makes Lisp difficult to read?
1·28 days agoi had to try again a couple times too before i got my brain to understand it, also maybe had to find just the right guide (practical common lisp in my case), but now that it’s in there its much easier for me to reason about code using LISP than it was ever in C/++/#, D, Java, Python…

31·28 days agowell, if familiarity can be ruled out, surely there is a quadruply-blind study then? how many participants were there? you need to test teaching lisp first then c and on another group the other way around. you also need to have groups of untrained people and show lisp first, then c, another group for the other way around.

huh, thanks, never heard of that ^^
i mean… to be fair… when i visited my hometown in poland in 1998… it really still looked very much like 1980 was still looming around the corner… it wasnt the 18th hundred but i loved it for its gritty “you want sweets? how about a nice refreshing glass of last summers compote from gramps allotment?”. silly nostalgia of course but yeah…
here nobody uses it anyway, so i dont even log on :3

9·4 months agoeven if you grabbed all the code available on a ps3, there is no way in hell to make a x86_64 machine run a program compiled for a powerpc cpu except by emulation or just-in-time-recompilation… good luck

… anyone here who remembers how tom hanks was then shrapnelled to bits just milliseconds after by exactly that gun barrel?
