This excerpt from the linked Wikipedia article for the name abstractly summarizes it nicely.

It reached the rank of the sixth most popular name for girls in the United States in 1912 and maintained that popularity through 1920, but then its popularity dropped quickly afterward.[2]

The name Mildred was very common about a hundred years ago, but never really at any other point since. If you see the name Mildred without seeing the person in question your first thoughts will be that they are extremely old. That’s really about it.

As Nougat said, this has nothing to do with passing or failing and is just a consequence of measuring performance. If 100 people take a test and the lowest 25 scorers all have a 95 out of 100 points then they are still in the bottom quartile regardless of the fact that every single student passed with flying colors.

Showing a bell curve with no context means nothing.

  • Yeah I eyeball too, but when you start getting into the 50/50 range things get dangerous so I keep it below that 😂 Most people don’t like straight liquor so that’s fair if you don’t like it neat. I’m a big whiskey and gin drinker so I’ll just make a Martini or Manhattan when the mood strikes. If I want something more refreshing a Mule is always great too if I can find good ginger beer!

  • I don’t know, I tend to opt for a 1:2 ratio if I’m looking to make a strong-ish mixed drink(Any less and I feel like I should just drink the whisky neat honestly). With a normal 40% ABV liquor this ends up being about 13% total. If you do a more normal 1:3 ratio it’s about 10%, so it’s weak, but it’s not that far off I guess.
