  • I guess where I would differ is that while they achieved those short-term goals, I think it can be strongly argued that none of those goals adequately served the US’ long term geopolitical interests

We don’t differ. The empire the overstretched and cannot continue doing the same playbook indefinitely, and a failure as big as the Iran war is a huge a result of that, it’s similar to WWII Germany, the US military is arrogant and thinks it’s untouchable and can invade any nation at will, and the rest of the world are tired of it and starting to realize they might be next. Modern drone warfare renders American air superiority not as much of a threat, and yes the empire’s expansion cannot be sustained. Celebration!

while the US did succeed, operationally, in achieving their strategic goals, Iraq also demonstrated some long-standing issues with the US military that have only worsened with time. Something that’s not talked about enough in regard to both Iraq and Afghanistan is that there were multiple units that were activated for those invasions only to repeatedly fail their workups and ultimately end up sitting out the initial stages of those wars. That’s shockingly bad. When you have whole divisions that are so incompetently trained that they are literally undeployable… Well, what are they even there for? The US military is huge, but it’s becoming increasingly apparent that it’s also extremely badly managed, and that these issues are not new. I know people who work alongside American soldiers, and the general consensus is that they are some of the least professional, most poorly trained in all of NATO. That’s unbelievably bad for a military with that kind of budget and history.

    I agree with that.

These recent issues didn’t come out of nowhere.

I agree. For months before the war every expert worth listening to said this is how it’s going to go, and now they’re scrambling to sell opening the strait as a victory.

They counted on being able to use death and destruction to compensate for all the issues you highlighted. I hope it was clear I was not complementing the US on their destruction of Iraq, but as you said they achieved their primary objectives, it was a military success.

  • The vast majority of Americans now see the war as a failure. It cost trillions, was founded on abject lies, and brought nothing for the American people

It was a success for the empire, yes it was founded on lies, it helped the ruling class steal vast amounts of resources, it helped the war machine industry make bank and deepen it’s grip on the world, it helped fracture the resistance to American imperialism. It helped the ruling class implement massive surveillance systems, strip citizens of basic rights in the name of national security, and more. The biggest objective win was removing Saddam and installing a US/Israel friendly puppet government that will give oil contracts away to western counties and turn a blind eye on imperialism and completely ignore the idea of reparations.

I’m noticing you neglect to consider the people’s perspective

    Okay.

You think the Iranian people care about US bases in the region?

Do I think the Iranian people care that the US no longer has air bases right across the border to launch bombers that bomb their schools? Yes, I do.

Removing US bases does not put food on their table.

It literally does. Pushing the American empire out of the region will translate to removing sanctions, which will literally put food on the average Iranian table.

You don’t understand how important the bases were for US hegemony and imperial control, and now that most host countries realize they don’t offer the protection they promised, America is being eliminated from their national defense strategy.

The military success of the war, from either side, has little bearing on public sentiment because neither people has anything to gain materially.

Okay… The discussion was about the government’s goals in attacking Iran, not about the public stance. You’re counter arguing an argument you pulled out of thin air.

  • In Iran, thousands have been killed and their stance does not seem to change

You know how Americans came together and supported GWB to invade Iraq to get revenge for 911?

It’s the same thing. The American terrorist attacks on Iran made them come together and vowed revenge, except they are actually targeting the terrorists that attacked them not another nation.

I would bet my bottom Iran gov will hold until the end.

Well, they’ve thoroughly crushed their attacker and humiliated them, and they’ve successfully decolonized most of the region (US bases are closing and they’re not returning). Why wouldn’t they hold?

This was ALL visible and demonstrated recently in the disaster that was the invasion of Iraq

Uhhh… which part was visible and demonstrated? Iraq now has a US friendly government, it was a complete success. ISIS taking over was the disaster in Iraq, not the invasion itself. The US captured Saddam, put him through a sham trial and he was hung in a dark shed, stole the oil, destroyed the nation, and slaughtered millions of Iraqis.

    They wanted to repeat that.

  • That’s not exactly correct… They’re called executive orders because they come from the executive branch, not because they only apply to the executive branch.

Executive orders primarily direct the executive branch, but they can also impose legally binding obligations on private companies when supported by constitutional or statutory authority.

Now, is this executive order specifically legally binding and supported by the constitution, lol no, it only applies to what the government has to call it. The companies are sucking his dick and showing their true colors.

Helpful to know your enemies, but completely harmless in and of itself. Recent estimates say the US can absorb seven more waves of Iranian attacks before they completely run out of interceptors, and interceptors ordered today won’t be delivered until 2029… Americans don’t realize just how badly Iran defeated them, and it’s why he’s openly contemplating using nukes, renaming a lake is a desperate attempt to distract from that.

  • He labeled himself a socialist. He also talks out of both mouths, he calls himself anti Zionist but it’s currently bragging about his positive interviews Israeli media where he said he wants to build bridges with Zionists.

He’s a net positive in grabbing people from the far right and pushing them left. He’s a net negative when it comes to liberal Zionism and normalizing the colonization of Palestine.

If you’re a centrist or right leaning, by all means watch him. If you’re already a leftist, you can avoid the brainrot.

  • Fortunately, that’s not how it works.

The private key is created on your server, not by Let’s encrypt, and it’s never transferred to them. Nobody can decrypt your data.

Certbot (the official ACME client) is open source, but you’re also welcome to use any other client of your choosing, or make your own. The secrets never leave your server.

Unless the NSA has working powerful quantum computers that can break public key encryption, that they are successfully hiding from the public, they wouldn’t be able to break let’s encrypt certificates backed public key encryption, the math just doesn’t math. It would still take the most powerful super computers millions of years to break RSA 2048.

There’s a reason they want to make encryption illegal, instead of just letting us trust it like sheep. Thankfully, we don’t have to trust anyone, it’s all verifiable math.

  • “Israelis” are all the citizens

To be an Israeli “citizen” is (obviously I’m not speaking of children) to knowingly live on occupied land built on destroyed villages because the society believes you are superior to the natives you hold on literal ghettos and concentration camps while slowly exterminating them.

If you’re not opposed to what your “fascist government” is doing, being a citizen doesn’t absolve you. The government as a concept is not responsible, it’s people that enable it.

The German society was correctly blamed for Nazism, not just Adolf and friends. Israeli society would need to a similar dezionification.

The majority of them agree with the government, the majority of people protesting Netanyahu are upset he didn’t do enough. It’s a supremacist society of child killers, they set up camping chairs and eat popcorn while watching bombs fall on children, they spit on us and attack non Jews openly, and their military defends them from consequences. It’s a society that needs fixing, not just a government.

There isn’t actually anything connecting them, apart from birthplace.

Actually, and I can’t believe my fucking eyes and having to write this… In this case, that is literally not the thing connecting them. The majority of Israeli citizens are not born in Palestine, the majority hold at least one other citizenship and what connects them is their belief that their ethno-religious group was promised the land of Palestine and they must subjugate the natives and take it from them.

They are racist. To be a Zionist is racist. To exist and partake of a society built on killing and stealing from Palestinians is racist. Pointing it out is not.

Bunch up groups with real stuff they have in common: Beliefs (Zionism…

Oh you’re doing the technically correct thing, even though you brought up citizens and I spoke only of society.

Israeli society, by definition, are Zionists. That is what I’m bunching them up with, and you’re twisting what I said to call me racist against Zionists.

I repeat what I said, it’s a sick supremacist society. I never brought up nationality and your attempt to argue that society means nationality is idiotic.

  • They literally killed over 50,000 people while gaslighting us about it, blaming Hamas at every turn, refused to even talk about the topic on three campaign except for calling for the deadliest military, defending Israel’s non-existent “right to exist”, and saying she can’t think of a single thing she would have done differently than Biden.

Or as you put it, “don’t agree with ever single word I far exactly like I say it”.

What you’re doing is genocide denial. You’re minimizing and flat out denying her involvement in the genocide, and trying to twist reality and convince others that our issue with her is over disagreement on words.
