I’m so glad I get to live in a time where hummingbirds exist. It’s awesome to me how these hummingbirds and jewelweed have evolved together. Both are truly magnificent and perfectly compliment each other.
I’m surprised hummers are still around it’s dipping into the 50s at night. I spotted two here. I’m sure they’ll soon make their journey to Central America.

I’m always keeping tabs on where I see jewelweed not just because I always take a photo, but because that stuff is good for poison ivy.
It also has the fun seed pods that explode!!!
Interesting, I had no clue of any poison ivy remedy. It has always been one of my favorite late summer flowers.
Yup! It’s also got anti-fungal properties.
The great thing is that pretty much anywhere you’ll find poison ivy in North America you can also find jewelweed. Just head to where water drains, it likes wet soil.
What a great shot! It’s been a great year for customers at my hummingbird feeder. The best since I lived in Tennessee. It’s a bittersweet time of year here up north wondering when the last day I see them will be.

They have only been around for 22 million years, so chances are good to be alive as a human in a time where hummingbirds exist. But they are special nonetheless! Nice shot.
As compared to the age of the Earth, hummingbirds have only been around for 0.49% of the time 😜

There are some similar butterfly’s.
20-30 millions years ago the climate was hotter in Europe and there were some hummingbird-like birds.
