Whats the best way to take action for me as a single user? What kind of posts should I focus on making? Ive heard of fetching reddit posts, maybe I could do that if theres like an easy process to do so, I’d happily feed some communities I like with posts from the silicon valley mafia platform to this platform!

Also whats the name of this platform? I registered under feddit org, is the umbrella term called fediverse? Accroding to wiki then this(fediverse) should be linked to platforms like pixelfed and mastadon too, is it? How do I see content from them or in what way are these platforms interlinked with this reddit styled one?

lemmy is a software platform that is the ‘threads’(ie,reddit) arm of the network of servers we call the ‘fediverse’. mastodon/universeodon/pixelfed are the ‘microblog’ (ie, twitter) arm of the fediverse. some platforms can interact with both sides… mastodon for example can push posts into lemmy even though lemmy cannot follow mastodon users.

some platforms can do both, right now, like mbin (ex: https://moist.catsweat.com/).

some platforms are working on providing both, i believe pixelfed is adding ‘thread’ support sometime later.

we need users more than posts. but its a chicken and egg thing… people wont come if theres no content and we need people for the content.

what we really need are subs from reddit moving their entire community to a lemmy/mbin community.

Exactly, that’s why I what I tried saying. Chicken and egg, I want to help with both within my reach

But most that migrate won’t stick unless they get a unique selling point(USP) out of it.

And I see it as a non silicon valley possessed platform, that has even more options to configure the experience to your liking(ie ui skins, at least for me there’s a couple through feddit)

But also there needs to be a at least some daily posts on most subs for new people to interact with. Most just browse and if there’s nothing to browse (or if it’s too hidden), most will just switch back again sooner or later.

But I’m talking with a day of experience… I still haven’t seen the light of posts yet I feel like
