We have near analogies that are close enough for us to have an idea. Anesthesia, being knocked out, dreamless sleep are closest to what we would consider “experiencing” oblivion. We can correlate the lack of experience or consiousness to the what we “experienced” prior to existing.

I get what you mean though, we can experience a transition out of and into non-experience, but cannot, as a matter of course, experience non-experience. There is no good reason (by my measure) to believe that there is anything other than just non-experience in the before and after phase of life. To the individual consciousness there is no discernable difference either. The matter/energy you are made of existed prior to and will continue to exist after you are gone, all that will be left is your memetic and causal imprint on our small bubble of reality.

There is no thru line from mouth to urethra. You drink water, it gets absorbed into your blood, your urinary system filters excess water and waste, you pee it out. Your pee is filtered blood, the only thru line for water to take from your mouth is your ass. I understood that when it was taught, but I didn’t really think about it…

And don’t forget, we would likely not be at war with Iran, the economy would still be moving in a recovery direction, USA would still be persuing climate friendly R&D, and we would not have concentration camps abusing and torturing immigrants and innocent citizens*

Depending on the communities that you focus on, you may get the impression that every Amercan on lemmy did not vote, and just want to piss and cry that they did not get the candidate (or communist revolution) that they preferred. Am American and voted for Kamala, not because I actively wanted her, but because you have to be pretty far gone to not be able to see she would have been better on EVERY front, INCULDING PALESTINE!

Alright so I watched him break down the data at the end, and the best that this proves is that it should be studied further to verify his experiments. Thousands of people should be studied in universities all over the world. My own distaste for datacenters not withstanding, if those future studies indicated and even maybe found the mechanism for these issues, that would not translate to datacenters ought not be built. It will and should be translated to a public health and engineering problem. We put shielding on nuclear powerplants to protect people from radiation, and we can likely do something similar to prevent infrasound, if the claims of some papers and this youtuber are proven to be correct beyond a reasonable doubt. This whole thing just stinks of “wifi sickness” and I am highly skeptical 🫤

They should announce a day they plan on cranking up the power, and instead turn everything off. See how many people can “feel” the increased activity.

Human rights can be more accurately defined as: A bunch of apes have the ability to perceive fairness and are intelligent enough to use language collectively decided that fairness should be the rule. The collective will punish those who break the rules.

Some branches of philosophy, yes. I think that your best defense would be to claim that there are metaphysical aspects of philosophy. We use metaphysics as a shortcut, even in pholosophy. I am a materialist, so I dont really think that anything can be “immaterial” or “metaphysical”. Anything we have identified as immaterial has just not been adequately defined.

Philosophy can be tested, it is an evolving system of methods used to think.

The supernatural is a set of (false) claims about reality. Bigfoot exists and magic god says we should do stuff.

Its a buy borrow die strategy. You take loans and refi them to be larger and larger until you die, when you do, the cost basis is reset (so if your cost basis was 1,000,000, but your investments are now worth 20,000,000, your cost basis becomes an untaxable 20,000,000) this new “stepped up” untaxable money (in investments) is used to pay off the debt by selling some assets, lets say 5,000,000 in debt covered by selling (untaxable) investments. This would be for someone with a handful of millions of dollars, I can only imagine what it is like for someone who has hundreds of billions in assets…
