Lol, I didn’t know this was a thing. (I’m not on Twitter, but I am on Facebook, though it wasn’t an intentional decision, it’s just where my friends were).

Good point. I was thinking overall, but you’re right, Zuck’s the social media horse to bet on.
It’s Zuck better than Musk?
Lemmy doesn’t follow mastodon, as far as I know. I like it that way. I was not a fan of mastodon. I made accounts on kbin, Lemmy, and mastodon during the blackout, and Lemmy is the only one I’m still using. I heard of a similar-to-mastodon place called Squabbles, which is NOT part of the fediverse, and I love it there.
I started with accounts on both and found myself liking Lemmy better. I actually haven’t been on kbin in days.
It’s on par with reddit’s right now, lol. But I imagine it’s on the list, just not very high priority right now.
Also a former rif user, and I also really like Jerboa. But I haven’t been able to use it for awhile now, with the update/server weirdness.
Random vaguely relevant confession: Every time I see “RDR2,” I misread it as R2D2.
Your boss was probably so confused, lol. At least I never got as far as calling work before realizing!
Or you’re like me, and you panic, thinking you somehow slept through the night and it’s 8:37 AM, so you sprint around in an adrenaline-fueled frenzy, trying to get ready because you’re already super late for work, and why didn’t anyone call/wake you up?!?! And then you realize it’s dusk outside, and everybody else is home, and you feel stupid.
And that, my friends, is why I use a 24 hour clock now.
I imagine there will still be a higher than normal amount of growth, but not as steep, through the rest of the summer as other people give up on Reddit after the changes. Some casual users may not understand what’s going on, but they’ll notice the changes through July and August without all the 3rd party people and the mods who leave/have left/got removed, which may drive them to alternatives.
Oh dang! My coworker was just there. Looks like he got back just in time.
