  • In case you own a lot of devices with remotes, you might transform it into a universal remote with an USB C IR dongle. Wouldn’t be my first choice as you’d still need to recharge it so often but I read of such projects.

Alternatively, you could give it to children for gaming and watching videos. Children are anyway mostly on WiFi and if you equip it with some emulators and ROMs they’ll have tons of funny games without all of these toxic in-app purchases, ads and casino mechanisms.

  • That’s interesting. Last year I visited an exhibition in Windischeschenbach / Germany where they drilled a hole that is more than 9000 meters deep to analyze the layers of the soil. There they said that they also penetrated several water basins while drilling that were completely isolated for billions of years. Still they didn’t find a single biologist willing to analyze these water samples. The reason that was given to me was that the liquid may contain completely unknown and highly dangerous bacteria, viruses etc.

Permafrost to me is quite similar to these underground water basins in terms of isolation over a long period of time. So that’s what I based my original claim on.

But I’m neither an expert in geology nor biology, so I can’t judge the potential risk.

  • Do you have a source that those people leaving are the ones that didn’t vote? I would guess that people who consider a measure as drastic as leaving your home country, would vote above average.

Furthermore, I would expect that mainly well-educated people are leaving the US, simply because it’s much easier to get a work permit elsewhere. And high education typically also correlates with higher participation in elections.

I didn’t have much time right now to a deeper research on these stand points. So if I’m wrong, I’d highly appreciate any sources.
