Our Valve Index has been going for many years. I’ve put a considerable amount of money into it, but that happens with children.

They’re not targeting flagship phones, it’s that the SoC the flagship phone comes with is the only SoC that meets the security requirements. As that SoC ends up in the next gen phones, cheaper options will be available.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — the chip inside the 2026 Motorola Signature — introduced MTE support, but only in the Elite variant. The Foundation has characterized MTE in the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 as effectively broken for GrapheneOS’s purposes. This is why even Motorola’s current flagship lineup cannot qualify: the chip is close but the specific hardware feature GrapheneOS treats as non-negotiable is not reliably present across the Snapdragon lineup.
Cheaper options will be available in the future. Let’s just be happy hardware will be available period.

There’s a long list of requirements, with a big one being hardware memory tagging.

8·1 month agoThey didn’t specifically disregard budget phones. The budget phones just won’t have the hardware required to meet GrapheneOS requirements. They’ve states that as the next gen flagship hardware trickles down to the budget phones, there’ll be more options.

I’ve been through most stages of computing. I remember being a wee lad with 5.25" floppies.
There isn’t much I haven’t experienced.
What they did was not close. Not even similar. They’re playing a game from 2009 on a HDD. It doesn’t require much.
Storage is expensive. Wasting money on equipment that will leave you disappointed isn’t what most would want.
Spinning rust is fine for most games on a second drive.

12·2 months agoI’m sure it has no problem running the game from Windows XP days.
The OS, unlike the game, is constantly running. It’s not a slight difference.
A person running in this configuration can often look forward to stuttering, which makes for a wonderful time.
You’re hilariously making out a configuration from a lifetime ago to work nearly as well.
Fortnite and an OS on a hard drive is going to be a very bad time.
What a strange thing to be contrarian aboot. It’s almost like you’re defending storage prices.

2·2 months agoYou seem kind. Thank you for that.
I was simply stating the US government 3 letter agencies have been disregarding the law when it comes to our privacy for many years. I didn’t communicate the statement very well. Sorry.
I don’t have faith in the liberal system. It’s been failing us regular people since it’s inception. If there were more people like you, it might stand a chance at being slightly less exploitative… You’re not the average person running things, though.
And anyways, you can’t reform a system that has exploitation at it’s core.
A revolution will take place one day. It might not be in our lifetime, or maybe it’ll be next year, who knows.
Take care kind stranger.

1·2 months agoAlright, so I dug into Tibet a little bit, which was a giant pain. It’s basically a wall of western media and “non-profits.” I do recall this history a bit, but it’s been quite awhile since I’ve read about it.
So America’s big shtick is spreading democracy, which is hilarious, right? What happened with Tibet is China freed a million people from feudalism, and for some reason we’re upset about it. If the west would have gotten to them first they would have thrown some right wing Hitler wannabe in charge, Nestle or something other giant shitty corporation would have exploited the ever living hell out of everyone, and we wouldn’t have heard about it again… China pushes education through socialism and every CIA/Israel backed “non-profit” loses their shit.
It was quite awhile ago, and it’s interesting. I’ll definitely be looking for some literature on the topic.
The 9 dash line thing, I don’t have much of an opinion. Maritime law is also not my thing.
Parenti article on Tibet (Though I don’t always agree with him when it comes to China, he’s usually pretty decent): https://tibetanbuddhistencyclopedia.com/en/index.php?title=Friendly_feudalism%3A_the_Tibet_myth

Edit- here’s another. It gives you an idea on how your opinion has been formulated: https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202403/1308920.shtml
Don’t be a western sheep. Dig deep, and use critical thinking skills. Hating on creepy corpo America, but taking their propaganda at face value makes absolutely no sense.

What international law issues? You haven’t named anything.
China is an incredibly democratic state, as socialist states usually are. China lifts not only it’s people up, but also the poor global south. The global south that is poor because of the west’s disgusting exploitative practices.
Let’s hear the garbage you heard on MSNBC.

1·2 months agoThat’s an incredibly uneducated response. China has lifted over 700 million people out of poverty. The quality of life is constantly improving. Whereas in the US, private equity is clawing back everything. The worker means nothing in the west.
With any luck, China will be the beacon of light the world needs to move forward in a progressive, democratic fashion. As soon as the US falls it’ll be a real possibility.
The capitalist propaganda hasn’t done you any favors. It’s left you disinformed.

I think XMPP is great, but if we can’t get those closest to us to even use Signal, I don’t think an even more convoluted system will be easier. What makes Prav different from all the other XMPP apps? Edit: Never mind. The convenience of using a phone number is the difference. Which is no doubt easier.
