I don’t know. Probably not bad. Large DNS providers tend to be OK unless specifically known to be not OK. Just make sure you really use DoH

Privacy@lemmy.ml•I tried Vivaldi on Linux just to find out that it’s not for me.
101·2 months agoVivaldi is made by former Opera guys and deserves zero attention because it is yet another proptietary piece of crap.
Set up DoH globally for your devices if you need privacy. Something like Adguard DNS.
What do you mean no tracking since you own your own server? If you use it alone, there is a straightforward correlation between the requests from your searxng instance and you, the dude who hosts it. The idea of searxng is that requests of many people become mixed together through an instance
Searx is not the easy one. Many instances don’t work, and the working ones hardly show relevant results.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Alternatives to WordPress that work through TOR/TAILS?
2·2 months agoNot exactly what you are asking for, but there is mitra, a microblogging service that can work through Tor and use Monero address for sign in.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do posts continuously end up "Permanently Deleted" here?
2·3 months agoOne post is a couple of kilobytes, but there are hundreds of posts daily, you know. Also comments, also attachments. And no community exists in vacuum, they are parts of much larger instance servers. So this is among the least disruptive ways to save storage space.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do posts continuously end up "Permanently Deleted" here?
71·3 months agoIt depends on a particular community.
Communities like nostupidquestions are not expected to have posts with important news or problems one might google a year later.
Tech-focused communities, on the contrary, are expected to keep posts forever, so that important information will be accessible. However, some people delete their posts after their problem is solved. This is highely discouraged.
And Lemmy ain’t just one site. Yeah.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's one cliche "Moral of the story" in media that you hate more than anything else?
12·3 months agoI don’t (at least, I try not to) consume media with typical “morals of the story” and narratives. But looking back into my childhood, I hate the stories about solving conflicts diplomatically, in a nonviolent way. I wish I had someone to teach me stand up for myself with my fists. I really lacked the skill of giving one a good smack when needed, and still do. Because in real life nobody listens to what you say, unless you can back your words with something sensable.

14·3 months agoYou are already familiar with Debian, so it will be easier. Debian is more friendly than you might think. This is enough to choose it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I make the most out of a mediocre laptop?
5·3 months agoAll right then. I use FL Studio and a whole bunch of VST plugins, such as Waves, FabFilter, T-Racks, KiloHeartz, etc etc. Most of them have no Linux versions, and setting them all up with wine would be a pain. I theoretically would be able to do this, but I just need to make music as I used to before i took a break with it and tried Linux. I will consider staying on Linux, if you suggest a truly decent FabFilter suite alternative and a 1:1 replacement for Waves MetaFlanger.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a fediverse service that access most fediverse networks?
3·3 months agoTrue. But it’s not quite comfortable to use. And it lacks good mobile apps. I guess, there only are Raccoon and FediLab, but both have serious UX problems.

Nah I see only photo stuff. Like, a whole post for sake of a screenshot of NY Times or whatever the hell these people read
