Now what do you mean by that?

Seems you did not understand the headline. It is confusing.
They mean Russian veterans of Ukraine war.

There is no good one I am aware of. The common archive links all seem to be to mirrors of this malicious site.
Unless someone else knows of one, I would suggest that people link to the original article. If you read some site a lot, pay for the sub, or you have trouble reading it, you can ask for a paste. You can also always try the firefox reader mode.

Do not use archive.is or archive.today! The site is basically a DDOS attack and has been proven to modify the content of the articles it “archives”!
System can always be reinstalled, just backup your data, that’s the important part. Can recommend Duplicati for windows and Pika backup for Linux (borg frontend that makes it easy).

So, you should be fine with the measures against scraping, then?

You could ask to be reimbursed for that too.
But that is not the point of this, I hope you understand.

I agree fully. But in this post’s comments people don’t seem to understand how RAM use works.
It should be used… It is good… Not using it is bad!

What? I do not understand…
Ai users? Using iot???
I do not see any relevance, sorry.

This thread is full of misconceptions about RAM use. It is normal and efficient for an OS to reserve memory for processes even if it not really used. This memory will be juggled around in case that is needed. It would be very bad for a modern OS if you somehow lowered your used RAM to near 0%. That would make the computer slower.
See for example this: https://www.linuxatemyram.com/
The same thing goes for Windows. It reserves RAM to be used. Like it should be.
Sure, Windows is bloated.
But posting screenshots of your task manager tells us nothing. If it uses 30% of your RAM at start time, that’s fine. Or not. Can’t really tell.

Sorry, answered thinking of wrong thread

I would recommend pika for easy backup, steamdeck (or even a windows pc) could have problems with cloud saves. If you want real backups you should set up deduplicated archives. This means you just install pika and click a couple times. You can set it to backup over ssh. The deduplicated compressed backup is often smaller than source data size even if it has years of archives.
Red flag. Person who uses it is somewhere from just plain dumb and slightly toxic to downright fascistic.

It’s commonly called coil whine. You might want to tweak BIOS and try to disable C-states or such power saving features of the processor. The main problem is a physical problem in your motherboard. Having linux can change the sound but won’t fix this issue. Only real fix I see is to get a new mb eventually. But if Linux reduces it, go for it!

OnlyOffice is an enemy of free software.
I would recommend LibreOffice for local use and NextCloud collabora for hosted.

I can recommend duplicati on windows or pika backup (which is a borg backup gui) on linux. Then just make a user on raspberry pi and enter the ssh login in your backup client and you’re set.
Duplicati / Pika / Borg will encrypt the backups for you! So there is no danger of someone reading or changing your backups. You could use even some free cloud storage to store the backups safely. It really doesn’t matter where you store them.
Rsync won’t deduplicate or make archives so you cannot restore a backup from any chosen date. Rsync is sync not backup.
Got it, thanks!
