Excellent point. You don’t have to convince me. I still think France is safer. But, back to the point of my comment: articles like this make people want to leave Europe, but they are misinformed.

I can’t believe the number of people who just don’t put their vape thing down. It is always in their hand. Driving, shopping, in class, at work, in the restaurant. The have sacrificed an entire hand.

I work with a lot of internationals. I think those countries are more dangerous, but my colleagues and other contacts have told me that things have improved to the point that they are all similar. I haven’t ever looked into it. It could be a feelings thing: they live here and read the sensationalist headlines and assume France is more dangerous than their country of origin.

I played through Axiom Verge again. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first time I played it, which was years ago.

When we first started dating in 2014 she really wanted to go to El Salvador or Colombia or Venezuela. Things have changed quite a bit in 12 years, and I wouldn’t call them dangerous compared to France now.

Edit: I really shouldn’t listen to my colleagues. I thought perhaps things people used to say about the countries listed above as examples were just stereotypes. My colleagues are misinformed, I was misinformed. They all seem more dangerous than France now that I’ve looked at some stats.

This type of stuff scares the crap out of my wife. She listens to too many doomer podcasts then talks about how we should move somewhere safe only to name a country that is far more dangerous than France.

Many half-assed ideas will never make a full-assed idea.

Between this and Wsocial, it is pretty clear that whoever is making IT decisions needs to be let go.

I saw the post. I believe the dev wrote the post, maybe with an LLM, or perhaps had an agent do it. We know agents are using Lemmy as a pastebin for some reason. I also think the game was made using AI.

Posting on Lemmy about games and loading them with postive sounding adjectives appears to be the sole purpose of these posts. I even saw one on the rather small shmups community which is specific.

I believe that the way the fediverse functions is seen as useful to bots/agents.

Making a post, loading it up with keywords, and providing a link to the project is better than any forum or even reddit. Once the post federates, it will create multiple free backlinks. Also, even if the post is deleted, the content will take time to delete across the fediverse. Other sites and users that use LLMs to write their reviews will find it and repeat the same slop. Slop cited in slop. Insloption. All free.

According to the SEO audits of my personal blog, the majority of my backlinks are from Lemmy instances.

How should a situation like these be handled in the future?

• let them post and deal with it the same way
• provide a template for self-promotion that must include an AI disclosure section
• have a “self-promotion day” during the week

Cool. But, which repair centre has the contract for bricked phones. In Europe only one place has the vendor key thing if you fuck up while flashing the device, they won’t let users or other repair places have it so I assume it works the same in the US.

If I needed a new phone, I might get one of these. Repairable phones are cool.
