  • This breaks down for professionals that are self taught though. For example, I still to this day, say in my head "F-Stab " for fstab, instead of “F-S-Tab”, and various other terms I learned when i was learning linux myself when I was 13. Didn’t understand at the time that it stood for filesystems table, so f-stab is how I pronounced the term in my head. In the UEFI case, I’ll just pronounce each letter at a time, U-E-F-I.

  • I understand this, but now they get to double dip, have a high price, AND charge more. Instead of having all the pricing roled into the final price, they get to say $65/m *

    • with additional taxes and fees

They also get to invent new situations to charge you for. Instead of just, “our service costs this much” they now get to add additional things like:

    • Hail damage recovery fee
    • Flood damage recovery fee

Who knows if they ever actually have to relocate a building like they told me. I’d like to see some figures in how often that actually happens, and how much it costs them as a company.

  • Thats because we basically gave our rail system to corporations so they only maintain them enough to not have shipments derailed, and they get priority during interchanges when consumer trains are approaching the same intersection tracks. I’ve taken trains where we had to wait an hour for freight trains to roll through before we got our chance to go.

Maybe there’s other points in the video, but I didn’t have time to watch it.

  • This is the allure for me as well. The trackpads make it so I can play any style game I want on the handheld, which is amazing. I’m playing emulated console games, modern steam games and games from the 90’s early 2000’s that were designed with mouse and keyboard in mind. I wouldn’t want a faster device without the trackpads, as it would cut down on a lot od games i’d like to play.

There’s no way you’re gonna be able to play Age of Empires, or similar games with joysticks, thats for sure.

  • PSA for anyone using a laptop during flights, the tray tables do not change angle or height when the person in front of you puts their seat all the way back. I almost had someone break my laptop screen a few years ago because the top of my screen got caught under the exposed edges where my tray table would fold up into, as the seat back came angling down towards my tray table. I was quick enough to be able to pull my laptop towards me and remove the screen before the full force was applied to the screen housing.

  • As a steamdeck owner, the ability to use the trackpads to play old keyboard/mouse games without having to sit at a computer, is great. I’ve been playing a lot of Dungeon Siege and Baldur’s Gate 2, released in early 2000’s with mouse/keyboard in mind, and they both work flawlessly.

The new Steam Controller is a welcome addition because the old Steam Controller doesn’t have the same button and joystick layout, plus its missing buttons, compared to the steamdeck. So when you want to dock the steamdeck and play your favorite first person shooter for example, and game on the TV in the livingroom, there’s no controller until now that matches what you’ve become accustomed to expecting with muscle memory, from playing on the steam deck.
