The original justification for patents at least had some logic to it. In exchange for progressing the state of the art and telling everyone else how your new invention works you get a period of market exclusivity. There was/is the option to not patent ideas and keep them as trade secrets instead, at the risk of others figuring out your idea.

Unfortunately for all of us 20 years is a really long time for exclusivity at our current tech development pace and in no way are patents consumable information for laypeople. The nonsense filings that get granted and all the lawyers involved have turned it into yet another tool only available to the wealthy.

A problem with DMCA is that it runs opposite of the rest of the legal system. DMCA takedowns operate on a guilty until proven innocent priniciple. This might be manageable if there were consequences for abusing the takedown system.

Unfortunately this looks to be another area where a previously functioning service is no longer being provided at the same level of quality.

What deliberately two faced language this is. The executive sitting in US contributing nothing to the creation of this product technically fulfills the statement that it’s made with American jobs.

I wouldn’t put it past these companies to put this type of marketing on products 100% from Mexico or any other North or South American country. Gross manipulation of technical correctness.

There’s Glacier on the US side and Waterton in Canada that are ajacent to each other. There were hiking trails that cross the border when I was there in 2009.
