  • By keeping them indoors all the time, have we raised a generation of kids who question nothing?

This is anecdotal, but in my own contact with younger folks it’s clear to me that many of them are depressed due to climate dread and worried about the rise of the far-right, and they’re smart enough to see their govs are deciding not to do anything to tackle their concerns. I don’t see them “questioning nothing”.

    Humans are self-serving.

We have evidence of cooperation for the entirety of human history and prehistory, there’s no way we would have survived long enough to build agrarian societies where acumulation was possible without first developing cooperation among each other. We may have a drive for self-preservation, but even under capitalism we care about others, we’re just taught we can only care about some groups of people (ex: your own family). And even then you see stuff like this: https://gulfnews.com/world/mena/egyptian-teenager-sacrifices-his-life-after-rescuing-six-people-from-drowning-1.500636639

The kids will be fine. Our society is not.

  • Basically misogynistic content creators that give horrible advice to boys and young men, like Andrew Tate, they love the red pill metaphor to act as if they’re enlightened and somehow that’s why they have money and sex. In actuality most of these grifters make most or all of their money from people paying them for courses that don’t work, about money, dating, sex, etc.

Edit: Tate is even worse than the average manosphere creator, he’s a horrible person who did more horrible stuff than just grift, but he’s the first asshole who came to my mind when explaining manosphere creators. They’re all reactionary pos.

  • Yes, if you believe they tell the truth (rather than them just co-opting popular ideas like funding education), they’re social fascist instead of straight fascist. I’m not sure they deserve the benefit of the doubt, and Hitler did the same thing, as that other commenter said, so there’s that. Because of all of this, I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong to characterize them as fascist, far-right, etc.

Racism is too complicated and I’d like to make it justice if I talk about it to non Argentinians, I can try to extend myself on this topic later if anyone’s interested, but generally people being wildly toxic on social media doesn’t translate into much irl, or I’d go crazy having to live here.

People here also aren’t in favor of genocide, our president is, as are his bootlickers. In case someone doesn’t know, he didn’t win because people here love him with him or anything, we had two choices, either our previous president that had been widely unpopular as he didn’t do much and the pandemic hits us like a truck, or this crazy guy. Of course he was by FAR the worst choice, and if my fellow Argentinians were politically literate AT ALL they’d have seen it coming, but here we are. But that’s our failure as leftists too, we gotta educate people better and build networks so they start trusting us.

  • The issue is that there are also many “progressives” who are like this, ex: supporting the kidnapping of the president of Venezuela or the invasion of Iran. Just because someone might be less bigoted to queer people or immigrants it doesn’t mean they’re any less imperialist, unfortunately. And this isn’t just a problem over there of course, I know too many people from my country who side with our comprador elite rather than workers like them.

  • Can’t say much about Russia since it’s not what I’m most informed about, but when I see people criticize China it’s normally debunked stuff which is very annoying. It’s not that the US “also” does the same, but rather that they’re projecting based on state department propaganda something that China isn’t even doing. So yeah we’ll share sources that already deal with the claims and hope people learn more about it. Some of us are way less patient or more rude, but that’s my perspective why.
