There are so many other factors and motivations that a) keep console games from being PC compatible and b) incentivize closed console ecosystems

It’s one of my pet peeves around the the online discourse regarding discs. So many people are looking at the issue one-dimensionally, and don’t have a full picture of motivations and implications.

I’m not gonna pretend it’s not about profit. Of course it’s all about money. But it is decisively not “we’re gonna make more money by taking people’s stuff away when we feel like it”

And this isn’t even touching on the impact to future contracts. Venues and other businesses don’t want to sign contracts with people who have shown a willingness to breach agreements for personal or political reasons.

There are so many more people than just Ed Sheeran who would be hurt by him breaching his contract. Everyone working that tour would be hurt. Likely hundreds of people who are doing gig work for this tour.

Separate contracts. Sheeran’s contract and Macklemore’s contract are unlikely to be contingent on each other. Plus there are probably terms in the contract regarding conditions under which the venue is allowed to break the contract “for cause” which Macklemore’s situation likely breaches

It’s likely not up to him as he has contractual obligations that could ruin more than just his own livelihood.

Yes. Foolishly most of the less expensive dishwashers don’t heat the water themselves, and the first cycle is more effective if it doesn’t have a period of using cool water from the pipes until the hot water arrives.

I was skeptical at first too but it truly works.

But it may be worth clarifying to your partner that once the water is coming out of the tap hot, the water in the hot pipes is already hot, so turning the tap to cool at that point no longer negatively impacts the dishwasher.

The important part is getting the cool water in the hot water pipes that has been sitting there flushed out before starting the dishwasher. If that’s already achieved, then what you do with the tap doesn’t matter anymore

“Ban cheaters if they find them” <= this is what anti-cheat is for, it’s not just prevention, it’s data collection to identify the cheaters who limit their cheating to just looking highly skilled

“I doubt that running into a cheater… is going to deter you from competing” <= People who compete at the level you’re talking about are the minority. Most players are non-vocal, online-only players who will bounce out just a few weeks after encountering anti-social behavior like cheating.
