Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Selfhosting Sunday! What's up?English
4·3 months agoWe’re on the first Sunday of the month, mdadm raid array be scrubbing… With Debian 13 came a crazy complex systemd scheduling for that, I liked the awkward cron job better. It’s now using some kind of random delay before start, and cut in chunks of 6 hours or so over multiple days Edit: typos

21·3 months agoTrue, only time I heard any of her songs was a school playback and they could have used that instead as far as I’m concerned

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do non-English speakers learn to code in English, or in their native language?
4·3 months agoYou’ll be surprised to learn that WinDEV can be programmed in a ton of diferent languages. I mean the instruction set and all. It feels dirty to read code written in french, and that’s my mother tongue. What a shit show. Only ‘logo’ for kids in primary school makes sense to have in their native language. EDIT : mostly french or English actually https://pcsoft.fr/wlangage.htm

1·3 months agoThe day I hit a tree with my sports car or what have you, my family would certainly be less sad if they could keep the lights on, control the heating and so on.
It’s made so you could remove node red and still have basic functionality, but I really need to document a bit, share passwords, so a trusted friend could help them just in case

1·3 months ago250! Wow, I thought I was already nuts with my 42 ZigBee devices + 10 reflashed sonoff over WiFi and my 8 cameras, doorbell etc… Let’s round up to 60; you are way ahead (oO)
I run everything on a single N100 mini NAS/PC with a remote slave backup NAS and the odd raspberry pi.
I’m more concerned about having to document in case I die than being able to keep all in mind, so far

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•This Is Why I Sit Down To Pee Pee
3·3 months agoAs a dude, we totally chat and have business talks while peeing together between meetings, nothing awkward at all. We just have a look to make sure all the stalls are empty and that we are free to speak about anything confidential. Edit: typo
It doesn’t, I agree. But I didn’t realize the severity of the incident, it provides more footage than what I saw last year, and it’s a fine lesson for anyone who plans on having a run there, or any track day
When you see an opening, you go for it - They say in F1. But they aren’t professional drivers at all, and from the hours upon hours of YouTube videos I’ve watched, British people are often the most dangerous ones on the Nürburgring. They come from far away, they are tired, and want to get the most of their experience, which I totally understand. I go there on a regular basis as I live nearby enough, just to drive around and have currywurst for lunch. I have yet to find a day where it would seem reasonable and safe enough to have a first run on the circuit. I should go on a weekday maybe … On the weekend, no effin.way.
I think it’s good practice to signal you are giving the way, and for the one that takes over to wait for a clear indication. Yes people, I’m expecting a guy in a beemer to use his turn signals. We do it on track days. In my opinion the guy in the Porsche is at fault.
