  • It seems to be biased and wrong from the get go so why would I watch something that seems to be designed to feed off internet outrage? There’s so much of that on the internet that it’s hard not to trip over it these days. I’m not interested in a video essay on society, design and technology that’s the same outrage, just repackaged.

Does the video mention that this EV sold above expectations?

  • My point is that I’m not really convinced about the premise when the thumbnail fits internet outrage more than actual sales. Ferrari does things primarily to sell cars, because it’s a company, a for-profit organisation. According to data they seem to be doing fine in that regard. Why would they care about opinions of people who won’t buy their cars? Why should anyone care if the answer is seemingly an uninspired “stop liking things I don’t like”?

  • I’m playing FFIX right now so I wonder if this is why my impression of BD is so different.

I definitely disagree on it being satire or even unserious. Yes, there’s comic relief and superficially it looks childish but it’s a retreat in style similar to FFIX and you can see they corrected every weak point from that one:

    • Battles are faster, class and B/D mechanics are much more engaging, random encounter rate is adjustable. I don’t think I played any FF derivative that was more fun to play.
    • They went more chibi in the art style at least in part out of necessity because FFIX character faces were a pixelated mess at 240p PSX display resolution, which is the same number of horizontal lines as 3DS.
    • Comic relief is just simply better executed, FFIX jokes are cringe for lack of a better word. Ringabel isn’t that much more cheesy or over the top womaniser than Edgar from FFVI. You go to the moon like in every other FF.

To me BD is classic FF concept taken where it made sense. The only major difference is that the story took second seat to gameplay but I don’t think that’s what FF was about traditionally even if FFVI happened to be one of the best JRPG stories told.

Importantly, puberty blocker prescription was associated with lower odds of mood disorder and suicidality diagnoses, but only among transgender youths. While this result should be studied further and interpreted with caution, it aligns with prior literature10,32,33 and clinical insights.34-36 More research is necessary to determine the mechanisms behind this association; although puberty blocker prescription appeared to attenuate both outcomes, it was not alone associated with diagnostic odds for transgender youths reduced to levels observed among their cisgender peers. Due to limitations of the administrative claims database being analyzed, we could not adjust for factors like psychosocial support, and policy environment measures (eg, regional and national transgender equality) did not appear to be associated with outcomes, although this may reflect measurement error (eg, scores were not available for the full study period or inconsistently measured from year to year).

No causal link demonstrated, potentially affected by other factors like how supportive your environment is.
