Remember, we got to loop it through Jones!
The US series COPS.
I also enjoy watching 90s era cartoons; TaleSpin or Darkwing Duck (specifically those two).
In both cases, I watch them on the second monitor while doing something else.
Great news. I really enjoyed Season 1. Season 2 seems to have a bit more problems with pacing, but I still like it.
Even started reading the first book.
No idea regarding automation, but you can get (some) 4K TV series off rutracker (a public tracker).

The site itself is in russian, but search queries in English work perfectly.
Content from English speaking countries almost always (literally around ~99.9% of the time) includes the original English audio track. You will have to manually set language priority in your video client as russian audio is set as the default track, but this should be easy to do.
Keep in mind that non-English movies/series will include the original audio and a russian dub/VO, English dub/VO will not be included. English subs are typically provided for non-English content.
Even never heard about it?
They are making an Alien series?
I have no issues with them even bring fans of Apple products and giving glowing reviews that may not appeal to my sensibilities.
Just he intellectually independent and honest. Don’t be suckers.
All the journalists at Ars exclusively use Apple products outside of work assignments. The notion of not wanting vendor lock-in, needing flexibility and wanting intense price competition is not part of their MO.
Long-time Ars reader/subscriber here. They’re a pretty source for English language tech news. I am particularly fond of their reporting on tech adjacent public policy issues (US centrism notwithstanding).
One area where they are weak is taking a critical look at Apple. They keep promoting the notion that Apple is somehow different.
They did report on Apple’s censorship of steaming content on AI (due to the upcoming release of Apple intelligence) and critiques of the CCP, but beyond the initial reporting it’s like nothing happened.
They all use Apple products, nothing wrong with that they have excellent products, but you would think that a tech news site would have at least one or two journalists who use Windows/Android/Linux full time.
It’s almost as if they need a “hero company” in their lives and can’t deal with the notion that all these tech megacorps are the same; sketchy, dishonest and corrupt.
Slate.com is not a good place for reviews for this kind of series, but things are not looking good.
This actually makes me want to read the books even more.
I am curious why you don’t think you’ll read the second and third books.
Good to hear. I might have to just go for it and start the novels, I will most probably end up watching the series anyways.
One thing that bothers me about the Dune: Prophecy is that’s is based on work by Brian Herbert.
As big fan of the Dune series, I was really excited when I found out there were more books written by by Herbert’s son. But after reading one of them, I swore off on anything by Brain Herbert.
It was a competent novel, but the writing style and overall plot progression was bland and uninspired in comparison to the real Dune novels.
I thought S2E01 was decent. Definitely going to watch the rest of Season 2.
I enjoyed season 1 and I generally dislike the “streaming company does a series based on famous sci-fi author’s work” format.
Debating whether to start reading the novels or watch the streaming series and then go through the novels.
I actually think this is a fair take and I see where you’re coming from. There is definitely a certain type for “streaming service sci-fi” shows and Silo falls into it. I had the same reaction to “Man in the High Castle” and I decided to skip The Rings of Power and Foundation because of this.
I am a huge fan of FO1/FO2 (and New Vegas), but I’ve given up on the franchise otherwise (there are better modern alternatives).
I guess with Silo it helped that I never read the novels. I can’t watch shows that butcher the core concept of my favourite novels. I am also curious about the lore. On the bright side, I did start reading the Silo books.
