I guess, given the already open nature of the Fediverse, my takeaway from this thread is that op is using their freedom to say they don’t like this particular style of moderation. Which might be useful, or not, for some moderators

1·7 months agoEven though this is a clear illustration of the level of maturity of these developments in European politics, I think it’s positive that the ideas exist outside just (parts of) the tech community
Wouldn’t the proper follow up have been: ”and so did 1/3 of Europe”?

3·9 months agoIt’s a pretty steep hill for most people to make a full on switch like this. I have, for the past year or so just begun suggesting that people download the app (element for example) when the topic of evil tech companies comes up. At least that’s a first step. Then when such a topic comes up next time I ask if they tried it out etc. My hope has been that they would at least know one alternative when stuff like the recent Discord ID thing is happening

News@lemmy.world•Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’
9·1 year agoMy take has always been (regardless of living in Europe or anywhere else) that these type of issues is exactly why we have states and municipalities at all. I.e to help each other solve basic life more efficiently. Of course there’s different takes on best strategies for this but I have a hard time seeing how Mamdanis policies around infrastructure and housing are extreme in any way

Is it a dig against C# only being good when using it from F#, i.e. OCaml for .Net or am I overthinking this?
