It’s only hypocrisy if you believe that all people are equal. If you believe that some people deserve are privileged, then there is no contradiction.

Having a 6-lane highway that goes through a pedestrian zone is a good sign that things have gone off the rails and the design of the space is broken. Making people trudge up stairs and cross a huge road is indeed better than mowing them down with pickups, but feels like a hack. 😅
