btw the reason why denmark and germany are building so many wind turbines is mostly because they’re so far north.

basically it doesn’t move the moon closer, but it makes the Earth rotate slower. that’s where the energy comes from.
basically the tides transfer angular momentum from the Earth to the moon.

actually, the moon gains angular momentum from the tidal movement that it causes, and that’s what makes it move further away. the reason is that it takes Earth about 1 day to rotate once around its axis, but it takes the moon 28 days to rotate once around Earth’s axis. so Earth has a higher angular velocity, and the tidal movement tries to reduce that difference to make the two tidally locked eventually. ironically, this process transfers angular momentum to the moon (to speed it up), which makes it move further away and thus the angular velocity actually decreases. yeah, orbital mechanics is weird.
(btw this is not a joke. it’s really that way, difficult to comprehend i know).

btw geothermal does not come from the earth’s rotation. it mostly comes from nuclear decay of heavy isotopes in the earth’s interior and the enormous heat capacity of the earth’s interior, which means it’s still warm from the friction heat from when the planet first formed. in other words it’s there since the Earth formed, independent of the sun.
also there’s another (practically accessible) form of energy that comes neither from geothermal nor from the sun: you can pull energy out of the tidal movement that comes from the moon’s changing gravity field as it orbits around our planet. i think that one’s not really being used though because the only way to really utilize it is to build dams across havens and important shipping routes and that interferes with trade, which is considered the more economically valuable activity from the two.

well actually there’s renewable energy on the cosmological scale (look up E. Harris - Mining Energy In An Expanding Universe), at least theoretically. nobody’s ever practically utilized it (afaik).

they’re more economically efficient than nuclear, which means they give you more bang for the buck
people keep talking about human rights, but what about human lefts?

In the middle ages people didn’t have sunscreen
in the middle ages people didn’t need sunscreen. sunscreen is only needed today (mostly for people in america) because some english people from north england (55°N) thought it was a good idea to move to america, as far south as california (30°N), where it’s sunny all the time and the sun burns at twice the intensity. Of course suddenly these pale-ass people suddenly develop sunburns all around.

rational thought is the most effective weapon any person can have [against the companies trying to steal your money out of your pockets with mindwashing ads] so they try to not activate it by not citing numbers.
i’d agree to it but it reeks a whole lot of “moral¹ decay is gonna be the end of us” nonsense, and i can’t have that.

insta is toxic af, stay away from it if you value your mental health
Do you think if society was structured differently (i.e pre-adult education was actually deemed useful and allowed people to get job relevant skills) that age range would move down?
The idea that 21-25 are easily tricked by older people rings true but I’m also thinking there’s a lot of things about current society that infantilises those people, or rather, gets them to actually act immaturely and see themselves as immature
society tries to push people towards having kids later in life because society fully expects a societal downturn. subconscious dooming about the economy has gone on since at least 2008 and you can actually see diagrams like these:

you can see how it starts declining after 2008, probably because people understood that the financial world was not as stable as they had believed and hardships are incoming, and that causes people to have children later in life (which actually has been a historical pattern for centuries).
it took me a while to realize that lots of people try to destabilize the relationships of their neighbors in a subconscious attempt to advance themselves that way, because they’re removing competition from the game.

does that go for cigarettes as well? why not?

plot twist, you’re his daughter
every action that does not have a commercial purpose is inherently sexual, and therefore any such activity that is not allowed by the other person is sexual harassment.
however, you cannot ask another person what they are fine with because asking is in itself an activity and therefore potentially sexual harassment. so you’d have to ask the person first whether you can ask them …
