I can’t believe I actually counted.
Randall has somehow weaponized my love for the Blue Ball Machine. He is a threat to us all.

I believe that Michael Collins was explicitly not mentioned because it was believed he was gonna make it back regardless. I’m not 100% certain, but I believe the speech was prepared for the (somewhat likely) scenario that Armstrong and Aldrin could not lift off from the surface of the moon due to failure or not enough fuel to meet up with Collins in the lunar orbiter to return to Earth.
Speech prepared if Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were stuck on the moon:
IN EVENT OF MOON DISASTER:
Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace.
These brave men, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know that there is no hope for their recovery. But they also know that there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice.
These two men are laying down their lives in mankind’s most noble goal: the search for truth and understanding.
They will be mourned by their families and friends; they will be mourned by their nation; they will be mourned by the people of the world; they will be mourned by a Mother Earth that dared send two of her sons into the unknown.
In their exploration, they stirred the people of the world to feel as one; in their sacrifice, they bind more tightly the brotherhood of man.
In ancient days, men looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood.
Others will follow, and surely find their way home. Man’s search will not be denied. But these men were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts.
For every human being who looks up at the moon in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever mankind.

Whenever people ask me what engineering work is like, I always tell them I have no idea. I’m not an engineer; engineers drive trains, I’m just a poser.
(am computer hardware engineer)
K-On is one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows, and for some reason saying that now makes people suspect I’m a Nazi.
I ain’t letting them have this one. It’s a stupid show about high schoolers drinking tea and playing music, dammit.
FPGAs are where it’s at, and the job market is surprisingly pretty open right now. Everybody’s sleeping on them, everyone wants study CUDA cores or architecture or… ML hardware accelerators or whatever. If you can transition to RTL design or even silicon engineering, it’s a good industry to be in.
Now, me personally, I’ve never made the funny magic smoke come out from one of my FPGAs, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fucked up an entire pipeline because I thought a series of logic would take 3 cycles but really it took 2 and now my entire data path is wrong and somehow I missed it in simulation and now I’ve gotta rearchitect everything and running synthesis/P&R takes a goddamn century to run and this is like my 5th time programming my board and…
Currently playing Armored Core 6 with a Steam Controller, and I love it. But… the right track pad leaves a lot to be desired.
The best aspect of the Steam Controller, without a doubt, is the modularity and shareability of it. The standard control scheme a game tries to assume, most of the time it stinks. But being able to browse through community-made control schemes and finding one that works for me is fantastic. The highest downloaded control scheme for AC6 got me 95% of the way there; I just had to change the bindings of the back pedals to suit me. Now it uses the track pad and the gyro in conjunction-- track pad for big sweeping movements and gyro for small adjustments-- and I love it.
