  • I think you make a great point that we didn’t really get to an ending point from the pandemic trauma. For some of us, our nervous systems are still in panic mode.

But we also have the threats of climate collapse, global food and water shortages, a shift to the right or alt-right in several governments around the world, and technology being weaponized against us at an increasing rate. These threats to us are real. There are too many to list here.

To OP, please know that you are not alone. There are a lot of us who look at the state of the world and recognize the severity and criticality of these problems. My advice would be to get involved in something --anything – that helps or gives back to the community in some way. I started with donating blood. Will it change the world? No, but it helps someone, somewhere, and that helps my brain find peace.

  • I feel it’s important to note the Purple-brand mattresses and pillows all come coated in a white plastic powder. Sometimes a lot of it.

Breathing in micro/nano plastic powder is not good.

Purple claims it’s safe, inert, and non-toxic. The reality is that breathing in powdered plastic is not safe.

I would recommend using a well-sealed allergy-type pillow cover for any purple pillow, at a minimum.

  • Were they actually being dishonest about it, or were they not disclosing it? There are a lot of things people don’t disclose before meeting up. Outside of a romantic relationship context, cis people tend to be more accepting of trans people in general if the cis people don’t know right away that the person is trans and find out later.

But for sexual/romantic relationships it’s different because most people want to know the genitals of their potential partners up front. This makes it difficult for trans people, who are stuck deciding at what point they should disclose the state of their genitals, in a way that is considered honest, keeps them safe, and maintains some privacy.

Yeah but most people aren’t lemmy users, meaning that the people who are here and have tech questions probably do more with their computers.

I have windows-only software i use that interfaces with hardware and the only way it all works is using an actual windows PC – not a VM.
