21·5 days agoThe best search engine for my money is kagi. It’s $5 a month but there’s no ads, I get to block pinterest and I downranked fandom wikis. There’s even a fediverse filter.

Something tells me you already have an idea of what those words mean. I’m not here to have a debate, I just thought I could help with understanding the parent comment. I thought it was pretty obvious what calling Xi the CEO of China was implying.
It means the parent commenter thinks “socialism with Chinese characteristics” looks an awful lot like state capitalism.
One of the devs she was complaining about got fired. The blowback hit harder though. She got fired, her (former) employer and her personal blog both got DDOSed, and she received a shitload of graphic death threats.

I’m not angry and I’m certainly not a centrist. All I wanna know is what you’re doing to justify taking the moral high ground. Seeing an obvious problem (the DNC is a dumpster fire) doesn’t get you points with anyone.
If all you do is post, you’re just noise. Do you participate in any kind of direct action? Do you volunteer? Are you advocating for anything, or are you just venting?
It’s okay, man, you’re not alone. Most people don’t do anything. Civic disengagement is kind of the status quo anymore.
What are you doing other than bitching about the opposition party on Lemmy? Genuinely curious.

I’ve only been on lemmy for like a week, so I have no point of comparison here. It doesn’t feel janky to me, but then I’m not a power user. It works well for what I like to do, which is view posts and comment. Images display well, I haven’t noticed any problems with video. I haven’t tried embedding images in comments yet, let’s try it with a photograph of the richest man in Indiana:
