Sorry if it wasn’t clear, but money != Capital, not necessarily. You can have money to exchange for goods, but as long as your money doesn’t auto-accumulate via interest, dividends etc, you don’t necessarily have capital. Of course this is mainly a discussion on definitions then

It’s not really capitalism without the involvement of capital, is it? It’s more akin to a trade-and-barter-economy/society, where everyone involved should have a high level of faith in others
Really fun game, but it never hooked me to a point that i finished the story

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Thoughts on privacy focused smart glasses?
1·5 months agoIt doesn’t work perfectly, but if using smart glasses anywhere outside of the restricted areas of your business risks huge whooping fines, smart glasses will only be allowed in those restricted areas. The same already goes for dangerous tools and hazardous chemicals. On a PC, you can easily screenshot and -record to create documentation or help others. Having this e.g. for a woodworking technique or to show how to replace a specific part in an engine might be a huge value add. But no one needs this shit while grabbing lunch in a public place.

22·5 months agoOr at least make them “for professional use only”, and regulate them like they’re body cams. If companies risk GDPR fines, they might self-regulate enough to take care of the problem.

3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Bambu Lab Sent a Cease-and-Desist. The AGPL Might Send One Back.English
21·5 months agoI fully agree with you. My next one won’t be a Bambu, but as long as my P1S works, it’ll be my main machine. And back when i bought my A1 mini, there simply was no comparable alternative in the sub 200€ range. It’s great that this is now a different story, but since printers take a couple of years to break down, the change in market share won’t happen overnight.

1917·5 months agoTheir printers just work. If you’re not interested in printers, but only printing the apple-of3d-printing is exactly what you want, which seems to be the majority of people. I own a Bambu and a sovol, to satisfy “both hobbies”. But at the end of the day, when I just need to print a replacement part I spent a non-trivial amount of time designing, my first pick is always the Bambu. Sadly, convenience beats freedom

Sorry, i was unclear in my question. My not-understand was mainly for the parts of how the medication touches on wakefulness instead of attention.
I share(d) your problems. Getting on medication definitely improved my sleep, but the waking up too early stayed. So i started taking melatonin in the evening, every single night. I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a game changer, but it definitely improved my quality of life, and by a lot. Being well rested, I however still “need” medication, going without has a strong negative impact “on my day” with repercussions on my sleep. Also, the added benefits of melatonin-improved sleep allow me to reduce my meds dose, which leads to a reduction in the accompanying side-effects.
Prescription medication for ADHD might not affect the attention networks of the brain, according to international researchers. The team looked at brain imaging data of kids aged 8-11, and found that taking these ADHD medications, which are stimulants, instead improve brain performance by reversing the effects of sleep deprivation on brain connections and school grades. They also found brain connectivity changed in the parts of the brain associated with wakefulness and reward, but not the brain’s attention systems. The team says their findings imply the ADHD medications might drive brain organisation towards a more wakeful and rewarded configuration, improving task effort and persistence without effects on attention networks.
Anyone able to explain what the resulting consequences mean in practice?

Technology@lemmy.world•European banks to launch euro stablecoin in bid to counter US dominanceEnglish
2·1 year agoIt is. That’s why banks have publicly backed Wero in favor of the digital euro. It might also be a reason for the relatively low limits of the digital euro wallets, but that’s just my speculation.

Technology@lemmy.world•European banks to launch euro stablecoin in bid to counter US dominanceEnglish
4·1 year agoThe digital euro will be centralized on the European Central Bank, so the transactions do not depend on some local banks. It’s in direct competition with the banks themselves. But yeah, not that big a difference for the end user imho

This. You can already have it on LinkedIn in the EU at least, “sort by recent” instead of “sort by relevant”. Imho its very effective, turns me off within 20 seconds instead of 5 min. If the effect works similarly on less cringe platforms, i can see this as a huge win for consumers.
