  • Although this is not particularly aimed at OP, as I cannot assess their situation, you should also check the fit and quality of your shoes if you start getting pains. One of my running friends ran with the wrong shoes for years and was out of the running (heh) at regular intervals because he figured that he could wear the same type of shoes as his father did.

Also, the manufacturer’s advice is that running shoes last 800-1000 kilometers. I personally do not really trust that advice since they do have to actually sell shoes, but that’s another rant. Also, my current pair has just touched 1200kms and I have no weird pains yet. I will be switching soon though, so I am not that stubborn.

As for barefooot shoes, I switched to barefoot shoes in everyday life three years ago and I rarely use traditional shoes anymore. My posture has improved and I have fewer back pains (I’m old). I also love being able to feel what’s below my feet as it somehow makes me more aware of my surroundings. However, I still run in traditional running shoes. Part of the reason is that I mostly run on paved roads. I am a masochist, but not that much. I was able to switch from antipronation to neutral shoes without issue and I feel that walking barefoot has improved my running posture. I take shorter steps and my landing zone has shifted forwards. My speed has not improved, but that’t probably because I am getting older and more rickety. :-)

  • Father of two here. I have tried to start sorting through the pictures that were made during the years by my wife, parents and in-laws. We are literally talking thousands of pictures here. Trust me, you do not want all of those.

Let’s project (pun intended) here. I grew up in the time of analog cameras, i.e. somewhere before 2000-ish. Back then you had to buy a camera, preferably a decent one. You had to buy a film roll, which had typically had a capacity of 24 or 36 pictures. If you ran out of film, you had to go out and buy new film. Having done that, the film had to be developed and the negatives had to be projected onto expensive paper, which needed their own chemicals to change actual pictures. When you took a picture, it had to count. A shoe box of printed pictures typically used to represent several years of personal history.

  • Hmmm… I know that the sub is called ‘no stupid questions’, but if you only listen to English music, you will by definition not hear any music that is not in English. So that question answers itself basically.

But trying to be less pedantic: which music genres do you like? Try finding music in those genres that are not in English and see for yourself. I have found some nordic folk music that I love, as well as Spanish Ska music. I do not understand a word of them, but I love the music anyway.

  • This is the guy under whose ‘leadership’, Dutch politics turned into a toxic cesspool. Education has worsened, the housing market has crashed, environmental problems were not solved and his party made sure that the energy infrastructure was not kept up properly, so that the citizens now pay for a hastened upgrade of said infrastructure. He has claimed to have no vision and is a compulsive liar with a very selective memory. I have not even touched all the debacles he facilitated.

This guy is now the boss of NATO and calls Trump ‘daddy’. He is a fucking disgrace. I am ashamed to be from the same country as this piece of shit.
