I mean have you heard an Australian accent? It’s like “this is totally a legit accent, we’re speaking English, mate, jabbamawong!” half of it isn’t even words they just make it up as they go like they’re not being sarcastic.
Never bought it.

Not really commenting on whether Altman got paid enough or not, but “well he’s not fucking homeless” isn’t really a sensible argument in any conversation about compensation.
And you think if nudity wasn’t a taboo people wouldn’t be self conscious about anything (ie. their bodies)? Especially considering the acoustics in most showers (hint:even the people who normally can’t hear you talk in your home can hear you sing in the shower). Especially considering people are self conscious as hell about their bodies even with clothes on?
A car is a much more private and safe space than a shower.
Not being a dick, just curious what your train of thought here is.
I love that the brain still, relies on real-life data on the world It creates
Yeah me too, totally, you fucking psycho. That’s the best part of nightmares…
Also:
Quieter than Silence are sublime, they have several shows on Youtube and they’re all different with different guest musicians and they’re all amazing.
and
Özgür Baba - Dertli Dolap, Çay Taşıand this full show: at the Franciscan Church.
Ooh I really like this one and the Le Lab Virgin Radio one, especially Opposite Ways. So much better than the album versions.
Off the top of my head: Parliament Funkadelic - The Mothership Connection, Live In Houston 1976.
That’s my go to. An amazing show and never fails to get me in a good mood or cheer me up. Parliament Funkadelic is magic.

You can talk circles around justifying this idiocy, it’s not going to make this clout chasing vandalism stunt any more clever. If justifying some kind of funding is what you want to talk about you’re free to do so, funding has never been something that stops art from existing, but that discussion is absolutely irrelevant to this thing. Besides, “the arts are one of the first things to go” isn’t talking about this one piece, it’s very general and you know it.
Yeah, because art clearly hasn’t existed when there’s strife, crises or people are poor or suffering :D
There is a massive difference between critique and telling people not to do anything. You enjoy that strawman as well. Jesus.
Making things worse is not a thing to be commended just for the effort, real life isn’t kindergarten, you don’t get a participation trophy. The road to hell is paved is good intentions and useful idiots do more harm than good.
Because wiping your ass on the entire movement is so much better than actually, really doing something! Have fun feeling high and mighty without doing anything useful.
Have fun beating that strawman…
Only extreme things make it into the media (sadly). Anything short of blowing up the pipeline won’t get them media attention.
I’m really not arguing against the obvious futility of fighting against these giants, but I mean, we’re here literally talking about people vandalizing paintings which honestly has absolutely fucking nothing to do with the oil industry and it’s hailed as some big statement. It’s a sad reality we live in, but things like this aren’t making anything better.
I mean that’s my point. I’d trust Reddit more than some completely random dude to handle my data you know? Why wouldn’t I? At least with a centralized datamining piece of shit I know a part of what the data is used for and they’re not just stalking me waiting to murder me or something. Blindly sharing whatever with some rando who just comes up to you like “hey you want some privacy” is just fucking weird. Some random dude could be any weird fucked up person you know? Maybe I’m over/underthinking this, but sometimes all of this just seems weird.
Thanks for the thorough reply. I’m just wondering, in general, about privacy and shit. Like it’s a big talking point here, how lemmy is so much safer and privacy focused, but then there are these huge oversights regarding some things. Sure it’s great my shit isn’t being monetized for bullshit reasons and ends and ads, but, if all this kind of decentralized thing doesn’t come without it’s own problems. It’s fairly new territory for most people and people easily lull into a comfort you know?
I’m paranoid rambling, but thanks for the reply.
Sorry for the dumb question, I’m thick in the head - since federated content is, well federated, does this mean potentially anyone who makes an instance can see practically everything?

I mean I don’t know how big it was worldwide, but where I’m from there was like a whole trend some years back where teens would have these, landline telephone speaker/mics you plugged in to the headphone jack to make calls and they’d have it hang around their neck when not using it it was the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever seen.
