No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is importing stuff from abroad free from sales tax?English
32·1 month agoI have a JP Nintendo account and payment method (on the eShop you can use gift cards & only reads JP CC). You use forwarders to acquire it at your own expense (shipping and customs value).

52·1 month agoThe Japanese version is only region locked in the sense of not being able to change the language & region nor being able to sign in using a foreign Nintendo account (it has to be a JP one). Cartridges from abroad (US, UK) do work but will automatically translate the UI into Japanese (if its supported).

Games@lemmy.world•Is the Ocarina of Time remake going to have Master Quest?English
23·2 months agoEspecially the Water Temple on N64, you end up fucking around with menus A LOT just to put on and take off the iron boots since it’s an aquatic dungeon. Also, a lot of points on playing the ocarina to change water depth are unmarked in N64 (but marked on 3DS) from what I saw on the latest gameplay of the remake: they retained the markings from the 3DS version hence making navigation easier.

10·2 months agoShirō Ishii (specialist and microbiologist in Unit 731 who is also in the Japanese army) was granted immunity by the allies in exchange for extensive data, research reports, and details regarding their human experiments and biological weapons programs towards the Americans. US military intelligence officials wanted exclusive access to the biological warfare data desiring to keep it out of the hands of the Soviets. He literally got away with endorsing torture towards people.

41·2 months agoIt’s conditioned by the Nazis via indoctrinating Germans to hate minorities (even kids were made to join the Hitler Youth) at that time, or true apathy. Unless they were the ones who are being treated the same way by someone else. Like when the Soviets managed to arrive during the latter years of the war, they did mistreat those people (even after the war).

16·2 months agoUnit 731 had vivisections (dissecting a person alive) in which scientists conducted experiments by testing people’s pain tolerance via torture or inject them with diseases or toxic chemicals using prisoners (civilian or allied forces who are captured, but the majority of prisoners are Chinese). Japan today knows it happened but still remain in denial about the topic.
