I mean even then it is way cheaper compared to gasoline. Around me, EV stations charge ~$0.50/kwh (give or take) and gas is ~$4.50/gal. Assuming 5 mi/kwh and 25 mpg, that comes out to $0.10/mi on electric and $0.18/mi on gas. So in “gas prices”, EVs cost ~$2.50/gal and that’s assuming you don’t do most of your charging at home, which takes it down to ~$0.08/kwh around me ($0.016/mi or $0.40/gal equivalent).

Everyone gets their results from corporate indexes. If they didn’t they’d be fucked, b/c most sites disallow scrapers that aren’t Google/Bing/Yahoo/etc.

Only if you enable them iirc. uBlock ensures they’re always off so I can’t say I’ve checked in a while
I like the theory that the word is made to look like the animal. The s is the face, the h is the fin, and the k is the tail: shark. I’m sure that’s not actually true but it is fun lol
Ouch, this one hits a little too close to home

Depends on whether I’m discussing the weather or not

I’m personally partial to Jarritos Mexican Cola, though it can be hard to find outside of variety packs

I mean I usually just say e.g. “30C” instead of “30 degrees celsius”

Ah, Gastrointestinal Joseph, my favorite

Not really apocalyptic per-se. The nightmare scenario would be that plastic would start bio-degrading similar to wood products and become far less viable as a material for long-term use containers. Yeah, it would require a massive shift in how we store things, esp. highly reactive chemicals, but it’d hardly be apocalyptic.

This reminds me of a Vietnamese-American fusion place I went once called “Pho 'Cue”

I know right?? I actually feel cheated because I was promised something the school failed to offer to me. They had me write a review of the program this past semester and I was not particularly kind.
At least learning resources for my actual areas of interest are generally freely available to learn on my own time… and an MS looks good on a resume…
I’m actually considering work in the public sector at this point so I can have a work/life balance and actual benefits. Used to be the private sector had better long-term career prospects, but tbh I’d rather take the pay cut and escape the corporate dehumanization.
The FOSS community has been a great outlet for my actual interests because I can use what I know to help people instead of feeding into the technocratic slop machine. It’s also been helpful in finding areas where I’d enjoy specializing.

As a student, I feel this so hard. My school canceled every Master’s-level class section with less than 15 students and now I’m stuck in 3 16-week AI/ML-centric classes. I suppose I’ll at least be well prepared to sit through useless mandatory trainings once I enter the workforce, if I can find a job. I’d say I’m more than ready to graduate so I can be rid of this AI bullshit but I think I really just want to move somewhere remote and become a hermit.
My best guess is that it has something to do with most render pipelines using CPU frame scheduling. Since the GPU can only process shaders, the CPU has to do e.g. input logic, reading textures from disk, etc. So in most engines, the CPU gives the GPU basic directions for each frame, and then the GPU goes off to process them while the CPU prepares the next set of directions.
If the CPU isn’t fast enough, the GPU sits around waiting for instructions and it causes stuttering and FPS drops. If the GPU isn’t fast enough, instructions from the CPU queue up and it causes input lag. To get around the input lag, most engines intentionally drop frames and decrease FPS (basically forcing the CPU to wait) in order to keep everything in sync.
Where VRAM comes into play is that that’s where textures and other important data the GPU needs are stored. The CPU and GPU can actually both write to VRAM (though the CPU does so indirectly in most cases). Writing to VRAM is an expensive operation that benefits from parallelization, especially in the context of loading textures and cached shaders, therefore more CPU cores = better performance. Meanwhile, running out of VRAM usually causes the GPU to fall back to system RAM which is much slower, so more VRAM = better performance.
TL;DR The CPU runs the game logic and the GPU renders the result, so the GPU can only render frames as fast as the CPU can prepare them and vice-versa.
Edit: Since people seem unable to tell, I’m not a bot (obligatory fuck AI); sorry I use structured formatting tho ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The big white one they’re holding them by looks like Magnesium Oxide and the gelcap is too small for fish oil…Vitamin D maybe?
