  • Are you sure about that? If there are things I know about the solar system, it’s that the distance between planets is massive and earth weighs nothing compared to the outer planets or especially the sun.

That earth like rogue planet needs to be like 1/500th of the distance to the sun to have an comparable gravitational pull (sun is 333000 heavier, sqrt is 577), and I’m not a astronomer but I believe for each planet a random number between 0 and 2 solar distances that the rogue planet passes the orbit is appropriate. So like, 1/1000 chance a planet gets seriously disturbed…

I’m gonna be honest I thought this would be way lower before I calculated.

  • It does say that, but she probably does have the usual XX.

The IBA based their decision to exclude her on 2 tests one in 22 and one in 23, never officially said which tests they were to protect their participants privacy, and then the president of the IBA just said they were chromosome tests.

If it was a chromosome test, they would have disqualified her in 22, those don’t change in a year. Hell, they would have disqualified her in 2023 before she entered the semi finales.

It seems more likely that she was fine in both tests. I say that because the Olympic people aren’t fools, if her Chromosomes were a problem, they wouldn’t have allowed her to participate.

Now, why don’t the Olympics just trust the IBA? High corruption made them remove the IBA’s Olympic status. If you then look at who Khelif beat in 2023 before her disqualification, you might then be Russian a conclusion.

Even if you added “for it’s meat” at the end there, I have killed and eaten fish.

But the way you said it, who hasn’t swatted a fly or mosquito? Not to mention the skin mites and fruit flies you consume daily.

  • Our Minister of transportation has been a disaster for our most climate minded government yet.

He continuously refuses to present any plans on how to reduce emissions in his sector. His emission reduction targets for the past few years were missed, but instead our climate bill was changed so it doesn’t have immediate consequences as long as other sectors meet their targets. Investments in communal and private rail were cut by 20 million €, while 150 Million were given to Volocopter, a start up for personal-use passenger drones. “State-owned” rail did see minor increases in investments, but most of that money is locked for now until the government and “Die Bahn” company agree on financing it.

The only good new thing in transportation right now is the 49€ a month ticket for all public transport in Germany, and even that fails to make commuters switch to public transport as public transport remains unreliable and inconvenient outside of cities.

  • Ugh.

    • fluids should be around two 3rds of what you consume every day by weight. Reducing microplastics in there by 80% is a huge improvement, not at all comparable to your dieting allegory
    • for the same reason, the microplastics we breathe in are unfortunate, hopefully some day eradicated, but negligible compared to what we consume
    • it’s not my fault your country still allows lead based solder and you don’t know what a tea pot is. Hot tip: You can boil your water every day in it.
    • Again, people can care about 2 things at once. Just because I don’t have any idea how to deal with the great pacific garbage patch doesn’t mean I might as well eat the plastic wrapper with my food inside it.

  • Let’s say it this way:

Microplastics in your body are bad, so if you know how to reduce your intake, you know how to be healthy longer, which allows you to keep fighting the good fight for the environment longer. Would be a shame if you die of cancer due to plastics while some oil baron stays healthy due to only drinking tea.

You should care about this, you don’t have to choose between your/human health and the environment when deciding on what to care for. Nobody only cares about humans, but saying “Microplastics can be removed (for human consumption) by boiling” is still good news to most people.

  • I am all for mentioning his conviction in the 1st sentence, but the crowd saying it should go into the 2nd sentence make some good points.

Barely anyone gets to have “convicted felon” in their lead sentence. Firstly, it is poor style unless the person is only known because they did a crime, secondly, convicted felon can mean a lot of thing and should be specified. “Convicted of falsifying business records” is just so much more specific, and can later be added with “and election interference”.

In any case, while the discussion is ongoing it has been included in a 2nd sentence, and the editors supporting to move it to first sentence seem to be the majority. If only more of them would read the whole discussion, instead of just saying “Support due to being established fact”.
