Want to be a misogynist? Go to Hexbear! Just make sure you’re talking to a pup-girl first so you have plausible deniability and can complain that you aren’t being interpreted charitably enough for your blatant misogyny.

Managed to barely dodge that one

The hole in the ozone layer for example.

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•With regard to comments not federating, or improperly federating
2·2 months agoI would guess that the ml admins / lemmy devs haven’t seen this post (tags in post bodies don’t notify) and that even if they did, at minimum they’d need the logs for:
some errors coming from the Lemmy side
To have any hope of saying why it’s not working properly (assuming the errors are related to the federation issues), but that ultimately the mbin devs would probably be in a better position to interpret those logs.
E: ah, I see that blued_gear is an mbin dev from their profile.

2·2 months agoBest of luck - I hope you’re able to help people get to the bottom of what’s going wrong.
Unfortunately, my experiences with reporting federation problems in the past has often been that it’s hard for me to get the right info to the right people.

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•With regard to comments not federating, or improperly federating
2·2 months agoMaybe, but it seems somewhat specific to kbin.earth to me. The error logs blued_gear saw might help the right people understand the issue too and dig in further if there’s something that needs fixing either in mbin or lemmy.
The one other mbin instance using 1.10.1 that federates with grad doesn’t have the same issue with the same users at least:
- tardigram
- gehirneimer.de does not federate
- rimworld.gallery does not federate
- thebrainbin.org does not federate
- fedia.io and kbin.melroy.org both require sign ins

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•With regard to comments not federating, or improperly federating
2·2 months agoI guess my point is that the federation issues seem to affect specific users, then. I poked at threads some more until I found nearly exactly the same issue with Cletus - history ends ~a month ago, more recent comments haven’t federated.
If it’s not an issue with having been moderated on kbin.earth, it still seems oddly user specific, and at least possibly time correlated for the two examples I’ve found so far. That might make it easier for blued_gear to figure out more about what goes wrong.

1·2 months agoHey! Hope you’re not banned from kbin.earth, but I only gathered a single data point and having your history drop off like that made it seem possible.

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•With regard to comments not federating, or improperly federating
3·2 months agoIs there a way to see a user’s moderation history on kbin.earth like there is on lemmy? I picked a random thread with discrepancies in comment counts, and the missing chain is started by opiumfree, whose history ends a month ago there. I’m not familiar enough with how bans show up on mbin to know if there’s more that should show up, and I don’t see a way to filter by a specific user in the modlog.
Also, note that until 1.0 user tags only work in comments on lemmy.

51·2 months agoHah, well, I didn’t find a comment from you there, but I switched to mander to check posts and found out that there has been a discovery that the content I post must be xposted without attribution before I get to posting on .ml. The many accounts for that user are all banned on .ml though so I can’t see the xpost here

Science@mander.xyz•[CW: Animal Cruelty] 370 billion crickets are farmed for food every year. Scientists have discovered they may feel pain
111·2 months agoHow about human babies, surely they don’t feel pain?!?
As recently as the 1980s it was common practice for babies to be given neuromuscular blocks but no pain relief medication during surgery. In 2014 a review of neonatal pain management practice in intensive care highlighted that although such infants experience an average of 11 painful procedures per day, 60% of babies do not receive any kind of pain medication.

“We tortured crickets to prove that cricket torture is effective”
The question, then, may not be whether some insects feel, but why we ever assumed they couldn’t.

I haven’t been keeping up with xposting as quickly as I used to, but I don’t see any xpost links that aren’t from me or the RSS feed? I don’t remember your prior post, either.
Anyways, yeah, it’s very much a “no duh” article IMO, but given some of it, I guess that’s not universal.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If I see the same post spamming more than two other threads, user gets blocked. Anyone get annoyed seeing 4+ cross posts or more on their feed?
8·2 months agoYou probably already have me blocked, but rapid cross posts get collapsed in the new feed or when they’re otherwise both on the same page. I’ll post the same thing to several relevant comms on different instances at once because I care less about those instances, but still want to put relevant content there. I don’t tend to xpost to multiple relevant comms on the same instance.

1·2 months agoHmm, I feel like I gotta clear up some misconceptions.
- The Hexbear account is not my alt, it’s my main
- Hexbear unfortunately does not allow me to define the appropriate number of pronoun forms, I’m limited to 2 pairs of 2
- I did not import from Hexbear and my display name is not an “accident”
- User tags only notify in comments until 1.0.0 (maybe not a misconception since I’m not sure if that’s even a proper tag as-is, and maybe you weren’t actually intending for me to see the post)
Congrats on figuring it out, I just
