I think you are assuming way to much rationality on the part of Republican voters. Republican politicians will just blame the Democrats, immigrants, and DEI for the failures, and Republican voters will eat it up.

There is a surprising variety among even those who call themselves Marxists or anarchists. Some are way more practical than others. Marx was first and foremost a critic of capitalism, and his criticisms were way ahead of their time and right on the money. Anarchism covers a whole lot of ground that I wouldn’t consider anarchism myself. The umbrella basis for anarchism is anti-authoritarianism. To me, that makes them less extreme than authoritarian socialists like in the Soviet Union or China. I’d consider myself an anarchist, but only in the margins that realize that government does play a critical role in establishing and defending freedoms.
I find that foolishness is spread pretty evenly across the political spectrum. I think most people believe what they want to believe and figure the “details” will work themselves out. Anyways, here in the US, the “far left” means things like universal healthcare, which seems a lot saner to me than the alternatives.
Neither of us live or are from the USA. So I don’t think this is relevant here.
A lot of foolishness is born in the US but doesn’t stay here. It might still be relevant.
If your friend calls themselves a libertarian, then my starting assumption would be they are wrong about everything.
It’s true that Trump made some kind of declaration as President, but that was pretty much a meaningless gesture. The US actually has no official list of domestic terror organizations, only foreign. In any case, calling antifa a terrorist organization is absurd.
A quick note on libertarianism: I consider myself a libertarian, but what passes for libertarianism in the US is anything but. Libertarianism is a left wing political philosophy, while the US Libertarian party is far right. It would be more accurate to label them as anarcho-capitalist.
That’s right wing gaslighting.
The failure was in the primaries, not in voting for the only remotely sane party in a two party system.
To be fair, in normal times I would want him doing just that. He has no experience in government or campaigning. But right now, beating Trump is all that matters.
Michele Obama is the only one consistently beating Trump in polls. Not that I want Obama v2, but that’s where it stands currently.
Done properly, a replacement would get a big bump with the nomination, but that’s not much to count on.
Jon Stewart would probably wipe the floor with Trump if anyone can figure out how to draft him.
The presidency gained expanded immunity not expanded powers. He can give the CIA illegal orders without fear of prosecution, but the CIA is not bound to follow them.
That’s the key difference in how this change impacts a Biden Presidency, and how it would impact a Trump presidency. Biden has surrounded himself with people who respect the law, while Trump will surround himself with criminals, lackies, and cultists.
I like the part of the election cycle when some good things are allowed to happen.
I don’t even blame Biden for waiting. Americans have such short memories that getting elected means having to hold some things in reserve, and getting reelected or passing the office on are genuinely important factors. It just sucks that people had to wait.
Congrats to everyone helped by this!
There would have to be some kind of currently unforseen breakthroughs before something like that would be even remotely possible. In all likelihood, quantum computing would stay in specialized data centers. For the problems quantum would solve, there is really no advantage to having it local anyways.
I remember them saying all the same exact things in the early 2000s after a slew of widespread disasters. Security will never be a higher priority than whatever cool new thing they want to sell.
You are mistaken. This is a “Russia is pathetically weak” post.
Short of finding out that his plane was made by Boeing, that’s a pretty good bet.
This isn’t reddit. Pineapples are the new bananas!
The best superhero stories always have personal drama that parallels the high stakes battles. Also, the cause of the Zemo drama was what again? It was all about fallout from collateral damage.
Not the TV show. I don’t know how faithful it is to the comic.
I don’t know about better, but certainly more relevant to current events. You would not get The Boys without the disastrous social impacts of Trumpism.
Europe is selling new bonds all the time, and the price buyers will be willing to pay for them will fall.
