  • Yes of course there are actually a lot of differences, being a homeowner after renting for years I am very aware. My comment, partly in jest, was focusing on practical day-to-day differences. But also, getting equity in your house is actually not that big of a windfall if you sell, because you still have to live somewhere and the other houses/rentals have all gone up in cost to match. I suppose if I was to move in with someone… but I dont plan on doing that ever.

    But anyways yea fuck capitalism

  • Just putting it out there that “property owning” is not the class deliniator! I “own” my house/property and the only differences are that i pay rent to a bank instead of a landlord, and i can knock holes in the walls if i want to.

I’m still pretty much paycheck to paycheck, squarely in the working class.

  • Irish people were forced to eat potatoes because they were subjugated by british lords who took everything else they farmed. When the potato “famine” happened, they were actually still producing plenty of other food, just that the British lords didnt care and still forced them to hand it over.

Admittedly this is the extent of my knowledge on the situation, so you should look it up yourself if you want to know more.

The “Joke” at the irish guy in the greentext is actually pretty insensitive and rude, much moreso than asking a german why he didnt order sauerkraut.

Potatoes aren’t even native to Ireland.

  • I once a applied for a job that said C# .NET in the title, the requirements listed embedded systems programming qualifications, and their automated hiring thing gave me a little “aptitude test” asking questions for a tech support role. Literally one of the questions was if I would be able to install antivirus software on other employees’ computers.

  • My family is an anomaly. We all get a long splended, holiday dinners are a real treat now that we’re all adults and have spread out because we rarely all appear in one location at the same time for any other occasion anymore. We have a longstanding Thanksgiving tradition and its allways full of laughter and joy, never any arguing!

Years ago before any of us had kids, the 5 of us who are into videogames all played league of legends together as a team and had a blast.
