The saddest part is that you clearly generated that message using an LLM. Or are you going to tell me that em-dashes are part of your everyday writing?

I had it running in front of my Matrix server. With the default configuration it gave a lot of false positives, leaving friends out of the server. Also, most of my users use VPNs regularly, so geo-blocking was a hassle too. I tuned it a bit, but kept giving me headaches, so I ended up disabling it. I’ll spend more time tuning it someday.
You must be fun at parties

Wow! I loved this! Thanks for sharing.
I have the og PineTime, and in my opinion, we don’t really need better hardware. What we need is better software!

Technology@lemmy.world•Spanish Court Orders ProtonVPN and NordVPN to Block Pirate Football StreamsEnglish
811·8 months agoI wish it was only football streams. They are blocking a ton of unrelated sites as a colateral damage. Most webs behind Cloudflare are blocked and stop working most weekends. This is a horrible violation to the network neutrality, and we should do something about it. If you think you are safe because this is still not happening in your country, think again. There’s a lot of people interested in this kind of censorship, and what’s happening in Spain sets a precedent and opens the floodgates for the rest of the countries (or, in this case, megacorps) to do the same.
Between chat control and this, things are getting out of hand FAST. We have to do something.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Do you have a plan for your self-hosted data if you die?English
9·8 months agoMy plan is using Shamir’s Secret Sharing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamir's_secret_sharing) to split my encrypted master password in 3: one for my wife, one for my mother and one for my best friend. In case I die, only 2 of those parts are needed to recover the password.

4·9 months agoI hear you. I’ve also used nocodb for this, and also tried Obsidian and of course Monica, but nothing felt “right”. It’s crazy how we all arrive at the same solutions to this problem :)

2·9 months agoThank you! Yes, I’ve thought about this and it’s in my roadmap to create an “export group as family tree to PDF” function. Would that be good enough for your needs?

4·9 months agoThere is an “export” option in the account settings :) It’s not in any specific standard (I’m planning to implement CardDAV soon), but it’s exported to JSON, so you can see all the data.
