  • Same here. It’s simply not as active as Reddit, obviously. But I found that I was wasting way too much time on Reddit anyway. Infinity was still working for free this whole time, which was the 3pa I used for years, but I still deleted it about a week ago. My sub feed was way less active and the all page was even worse than usual with 80% just aita kind of text posts. I’m on lemmy maybe 30 minutes a day, but that’s a good thing for me.

  • That assumes you have bought you own house which you can alter. Where I live it’s 60% owns and 40% rents, but the cities, where it’s much warmer and which heat up faster and thus need ac the most, have more renters than buyers. So you’re dependent on whoever you’re renting from to do anything like that.

Lmao. We do need ac though, the problem is Europe has a ton of older houses which were build when it was much more beneficial to try and keep warmth in rather than out. And it’s a pain in the ass to retrofit all these houses with ac. I live in a flat which was build about 15 years ago and the difference compared to my previous apartments is enormous. Still no ac, but it’s not needed here because of proper isolation and smaller windows.

  • I definitely do. My dumb-dumb brain doesn’t really get the whole neurotransmitter thing, but as stingy as it is with dopamine and nor-adrenaline, as generous it is with endorphins. Oh, you’re 5 minutes into your cardio warm-up of your hour long work-out? Enjoy this heap of endorphins for the next 2 hours. I feel good, it’s extremely meditative because thoughts are just on pause, I love getting stronger and more in shape, and I always go in the sauna at the end of my work-out which is a huge motivator before going and makes it all even better at the end. I always walk out of the gym completely zen and satisfied.

If you don’t get such an easy endorphin rush, I don’t know what to do. I can imagine it would suck in that case.

  • I used to have a pretty intense not-like-the-other-girls fase in my teens, and I never wore skirts or dresses, and felt the same way you do. Then I got over that internalized misogyny and started experimenting with clothes a little, and the first time I put on a dress it was like a hallelujah moment. The most comfortable thing in the goddamn world. They do not restrict your movement at all, that’s only a problem if you wear knee-high pencil skirts of stiff fabric. In colder seasons you wear leggings under them which are equally comfortable. It was so incredibly comfy I did a complete 180 and it took me 10 years to wear a pair of pants again, and that’s only because the waist high mom jeans in style now are so loose and non-restricting. Any other style of pants I won’t touch with a 10 feet pole.

  • I once forgot to respond to a friend for 5 months, lmao. Luckily he knows me well enough to know I sometimes forget and I was kind of going through a personal crisis, so a ‘hey man kinda forgot to respond for 5 months, how are you’ was enough to make it all right again

  • Agreed. If I’m going on vacation I avoid cities as much as possible and want to be in the middle of nowhere in nature. That means no hotels for 10s of kilometers, but there’s usually at least one person renting out a room or something similar. I’ve also never experienced any of the things in this meme in places like that, but that could also be because it’s an American thing, which wouldn’t surprise me.
