It varied, and there wasn’t really a consistent definition. It was just some mash of, “shooter”, “shoot-em-up”, “action”, “first-person”, “virtual reality”, “adventure” and/or “RPG”. For example, Ahoy’s retrospective settled on “action rpg”.

Oh, thats disappointing. Still neat to add a LUA mod loader to Minecraft, and will probably help those coming from other games that use LUA, but given that Minecraft is already written in easily-decompiled Java, and has a separate API for simpler mods/scripts (datapacks) still feels kind-of redundant.

From my understanding, this is a lot more powerful than anything Luanti normally offers. Its not server-side modding (Minecraft has obviously had that for ages), its a full LUA interpreter with an in-game interface for clients to write scripts, and upload them to the server on the fly.
Edit: I was wrong, its just a mod loader running entirely server-side, without a way for clients to interact with it, so it basically just adds the ability for the server to run LUA scripts alongside other Java mods and datapacks.

Are you looking for multiplayer specifically? If not, Borderlands might be a good fit for a fairly casual shooter.

I did not, so that would explain what I’m missing and why people are focused on him over Kraft.

From what I heard (although I may be wrong) it sounded like Sheeran was quietly supportive of Macklemore, given that he was consistently allowed to give his speech up until Kraft threatened them. Sure, he gave in to the pressure far more quickly than he should have, but by the sound of it, he was ultimately a victim of Zionist actions rather than a supporter. Kraft was the one trying to silence the Free Palestine messages, and threatening the whole tour to do so - he is the aggressor here.
That said, maybe I’ve missed something, so feel free to correct me.

It sucks that this is the current market, but for what it is, this is unfortunately pretty much what I expected. Its similar hardware to a flagship phone, but with custom VR hardware and software, so flagship phone, plus about 25%
I pity psychologists. Imagine how many people want to chew their ear off about narcissism, emotional labor, gaslighting, or whatever self-help pop psychologists are grifting about today.
Honestly, as it relates to academics and papers, psychology isn’t too bad from what I’ve read. There are wildly varying definitions, but papers have had ways to account for that for decades - that being defining terms where needed, and showing your work so others can see the context. For example, if studying depression, they’ll have to specify which scale or metric was used for depression in patients, be it a mood tracker, or a standardize questionnaire. That said, you could always tell when a paper wasn’t well constructed or had little to offer, because thats when the jargon would be front and centre.
That, and more purely philosophical academic papers. They were awful. For example, reading a thirteen-page paper that could wholly be summarised as “Positionality is how people define themselves relative to others. They may have biases based on these definitions.” but written like, “subject-position is based on a subject’s temporal elements to best target the dominant drive in a social confrontation…” I have no problem reading most articles, but those were putting me to sleep.

Also, the Index (the main non-Facebook option) isn’t even available for sale anymore, so…

Even as someone who is a proponent of expanding Nuclear power, California is not where I’d expect it to be needed. They’re in a tropical climate, on a coast, and have mountainous terrain - practically the best possible conditions for renewables. At the same time the region is prone to earthquakes and (from my understanding) in desperate need for new power generation fast, which the current state of nuclear in the USA doesn’t allow for. Is there a reason they’re choosing to expand nuclear over renewables?

I know four is a commonly referenced favourite, but I just couldn’t get into it. Beyond Earth on the other hand, was quite fun despite the hate, although didn’t have as much replayability or longevity.

Yep, as I said, there’s only soon much you can do, and supervision and education are the be-all-and-end-alls. At the same time the internet is a horrific place and kids are impulsive and stupid (especially when spurred on by peers), so it makes sense to take additional steps and use additional tools where possible. Thats what I’m asking about primarily, tools to assist in parenting, not replace it.

I never had a problem with ratings over 50%. My writing seems to be especially prone to false positives, but I still didn’t receive higher than 20-30%. Unfortunately, at my school, anything over 0% was considered suspect, so I was still penalised even if it was clearly human-written with full APA sourcing.

Basically, you’re just looking for PC game stores that carry free games other than Steam, right? In that case, Itch.io is the main place to look. Beyond that, games will primarily be distributed on their developer or publisher’s website. Piracy probably won’t be an easy option, as people aren’t going to put in the work creating/uploading pirate copies of a game thats easily available otherwise.
Edit: Also, I think you may be able to use SteamCMD (Steam’s non-launcher, CLI tool) to download the game if its DRM free.
Something like this in SteamCMD:
login anonymous
force_install_dir <install directory>
app_update <app id> validate

Berry Bury Berry, A Game About Digging a Hole, and Scritchy Scratchy are the games that I know of that are closest to the gameplay loop I’m looking for. Basically, doing a simple satisfying task to buy upgrades to make the task more efficient. Also similar to a lot of old flash games.

csgo is a notoriously cpu-bound game. i hear ark is as well.
I don’t know about Ark, but CS2 fixed the overreliance on CPU with the new engine, so its more evenly balanced between CPU and GPU. Notably, it also wouldn’t really make sense for it to be a consistent 80% limit, so its something about the OS or the hardware rather than anything game-specific.

asklemmy is explicitly not a support community, so that sort of question is usually locked and removed. Its more for open-ended discussion questions.

Its a very experimental spinoff that feels a bit more like tactical RPGs rather than the classic XCom formula. Its definitely not as good as the mainline games, but it still fun and offers something different.
Notably VR also generally wasn’t the main pitch. It was just seen as axillary. The reason they promoted it as the next big thing, was the “”“metaverse”“”. Definitions varied, but it was generally a social media platform owned by the seller, and/or was virtual real estate.
