Grapeseed oil.

Cheap at big box stores. Incredibly high smoke point. Dirt cheap.

Use that for first couple layers and after that honestly whatever oil or fat you want to use or have. I re-up my pans with everything from Crisco to just cheap “vegetable” oil (rapeseed or soy usually) and even duck fat from after making other dishes.

Don’t expect any to necessarily be more delicious but sometimes you get different flavors from what sorta burns in. You supposedly might get some iron passing through but it’s actually kinda a necessary mineral like volcanic ash.

Yeah the grease smoke is a lot.

But also you shouldn’t cook bacon hot actually. You want it to slowly render out the fat at a medium heat. Honestly will still make it greasy around the pan but shouldn’t be smoking that much.

Tue secret to cast iron is fire.
I know everyone talks about their tricks but mone has mostly just been lots of heat directly applied to it and then slap cheap oil and rub it with a rag I accidentally set on fire once and then back to the flame. I figure it worked for my ancestors. And they seasoned that shit with sunlight.

Yeah honestly I want more pans made like my wok and just have it be anodized carbon steel. It’s so good even if it is not pretty.

Hey, if your meat is sticking it might just need to sit longer at a slightly lower temp if you are worried about burning. Letting pork sit for longer has done a lot for me for it sticking.

And then also for cleaning heating up the pan dry on the burner than throwing in some warm water to boil while scraping the bottom has been way faster than scrubbing it all.

I’ve been incredibly broke before and I think it’s different kind of protective. I’m frugally protective at trying to keep something working but that’s a different kind of possesive.

Of course you will care about food when you are starving. And you won’t care about scraps and leftovers when you are not.

But like that was a change of not being afraid to lose something you can rebuy. I’m sure their is plenty of non disposable items that you would have and ideals that you hold onto as truths about yourself. And im sure you don’t viewing housing and transportation as disposable.

There are plenty of nerds that are super conservative about their fandoms and what is allowed to happen with them and same for all kinds of niches but the idea we would get more conservative with money really assumed we would accumulate more of it and assets. But what people do have is their apps and thoughts and those… Those people will be just as conservative as the boomers are about their money as they get older.

Just because someone isn’t voting for your desired candidate or your opposition doesn’t mean they are supporting the one you have issue with. It literally doesn’t work that way. They might not be helping you but somehow it only impacts one side? Cause there isn’t a net positive for it anymore? That doesn’t equal a positive for the other just literally a neutral “wasted” vote because sure it is.

If you can drive a car and not support climate change than this can be true as well. Attaching a moral equivalence to measure people against for a desired outcome is just you telling people they don’t matter and are “other” for not being with you. You aren’t say8ng what will happen cause if someone votes third party… They vote third party. That’s it. You just don’t like it so you push that it equates to something you see as worse.
