Part of me wonders from time to time how the game is doing. But I played enough of it at the time that I’m pretty done with it. Was a Swain main. I got Lulu when she came out and then I think I left a little after that.

I got Monster Hunter: Wilds finally, but surprisingly, I have not dropped a lot of time into it despite playing the franchise since the first, with usually 100-250 hours spent on any given title I purchased in the series. TBF, my PS5 controller is in a terrible state right now, forcing me to use K&M, which is genuinely surprising to me that they added support for it in the PS5 to begin with. As far as I know, that is very rare. And while I’m no stranger to K&M, I’ve never used it for Monster Hunter and I just don’t dig it much.

I’d actually have to give my personal GOTY to a game that’s not at all new. I’ve eyed Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous for some time, even though I don’t think I’ve played a traditional CRPG since Planescape: Torment (granted not in 1999, I bought it thru GOG, so it had to be sometime after 2008.) And despite it being a CRPG and me knowing that, I played it via Playstation+ on PS5… with my controller, which still had stick drift at the time but not as bad. I sunk between 200-250 hours into it and I still have not beat the damn thing. I kept remaking my party as I grew more familiar with the game’s system. My last and favorite being subclassing all my regulars to have dinosaur pets. Game went on sale for like 6 or 7 bucks a little while ago so I just went ahead and bought it permanently. I’m sure I’ll revisit it again just like I do Elder Scrolls and Borderlands franchises.

As much as I enjoyed Wrath of the Righteous, I give zero fucks when being foced to play a damn human. Sure, my companions could be something else, but I must still be a human, and I’m just not about that. “Lookit all this fantastical fantasy stuff! But here, play with the basic human.” Fuck off. Monster Hunter: Wilds is on sale right now on the Playstation store. 30% off. I’ve been a fan of the series since the first, back on PS2, and have bought many titles in the franchise. While I pretty much couldn’t care less about the story (which mainline MH has never been known for, anyways,) in every other sense, the game has been delivering for me. It’s been a really depressing few weeks. I bought the game last Sunday and it’s been one of the few things that has gotten me to smile.

What immediately came to my mind was the phrase, “A key that opens a lot of locks is a good key, a lock that is opened by a lot of keys is a shitty lock.” And generally, that’s something you’re a lot more likely to bump into than rape, which is a much more uncomfortable to talk about for a lot of people and so it’s almost never going to be brought up. Combine that with some rape cases that get swept under the rug with phrases like, “boys will be boys,” “she was asking for it,” or even something as outright cruel as “it’s the only way she’d get laid anyways,” and yeah, where OP is coming from isn’t too hard to understand.

Part of me wants to believe Diddlin Don wants to push this through ASAP so he can claim he did something “worthwhile” before he gets slammed with Epstein file controversy, but the cynic in me believes those files have already been fucked with and altered beyond actual use.

I played long after most of the bugs were fixed, just a bit before 2.0 and Phantom Liberty came out (I’ve yet to get it, but, eventually it will happen.) On PS5 so everything ran pretty well. I loved the game a lot, and generally speaking, I have little to complain about. I would have liked more side quests and for the ones that exist to be more fleshed out than some background via texts. And I’m saying that after having gone around and completing every odd job/side quest/gig.

But my only real gripe is after having played through the story a couple times, it becomes really tedious to get through enough of the story to open up all of Night City again when starting up a new play through. I wish there were a way to accelerate that so I can just drop in and play with a new game and a new playstyle without having to sit through all the long dialogues and car chit chats.

Looked this up. Can’t believe Record of Lodoss War got a game in 2021. I remember watching the 1990 anime on Toonami’s online-only list of anime at the time, along with Harlock Saga. Both old school AF.

The only one that managed to hold my attention to completion that wasn’t an actual Metroid title was Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Which is a shame, because Ori and The Blind Forest is beautiful and Hollowknight is very cute, but neither could really hold my attention.
