  • Sorry m8, you must have only noticed me today because I have been bitching about Lemmy…

You’re quoting my referencing your more recent comments. My comment also contains the word “constantly”.

Like you dodge it each time you’re asked why, but you are still here. You clearly prefer it, or god forbid, appreciate it equally to reddit. So I just don’t get tthe point complaining all the time. Everything you disagree with is always akin to “precious activist” or “Lemmy decided”. Like old mate said, the OP question gives off a disingenuous vibe and reddit shit gets downvoted all the time here (also doesn’t really fit in shitposting either). Complaining about it is just pissing into the wind.

Like legit, if I felt that way about a website, I’d leave. Fuck I left reddit due to the API shit, so I’ve left sites for less. That said, I’ve definitely blocked entire instances here due to shitty behaviour, so I’m not trying to claim this place isn’t without its cunts. Which is hardly unique to Lemmy. It helps when this instance doesn’t federate with a lot of the worser places here. However, you sound and behave like you, at best, need a break from the place.

  • my god who cares

I mean you cared enough to go on a paragraph long screed about it, went into negatives and now are here complaining about Lemmy not being nice to you?

    triggered

    don’t bother replying thanks

Alright so you’re an arsehole who complains when everyone treat them like the arsehole they are, ok. I would say it’s ironic the guy constantly complaining Lemmy is mean to him calling people triggered, but whatever helps you deal with all I guess.

  • I strongly suspect you’d have a better time here if you didn’t complain about Lemmy every other comment or come into a discussion being blatantly wrong accusing “The Lemmy” of deciding a movie is a satire of facism (you know, something it’s director stated years ago) or griping about muslims every other comment. Also weird percentage to claim given you were shown the figures of Lemmy MAU recently.

  • Regardless of speculation about the movies universe the point is the movie is a satire of facism, as that’s how the director interpreted the book (that is, fascist in nature). A lot of people missed this about the movie. If the arming of kids and sending them off to war, the slogans, the service guaranteeing citizenship and as I mentioned in another comment, the SS uniforms, don’t convince you. Maybe the directors own words will:

Although some contemporary critics and audiences considered Starship Troopers to be an endorsement of fascism, Verhoeven said, “whenever you see something that you think is fascist, you should know that the filmmakers agree with your opinion”

Edit: check out the wiki if you’d like to know more.

  • Neil Patrick Harris is dressed in a blatant SS look alike uniform at the end and Switch exists in the Matrix movie. Matrix was more overtly about the illusions of a constructed soceity but I feel like the trans allegory was always there. Isn’t the red pill a HRT reference since estrogen pills were red in the 90s?

    Switch

Switch was originally meant to change genders upon entering the Matrix, which coined their name “Switch”. In the real world, Switch would be male, and in the Matrix, Switch would be female - a very clever and critical point of the ‘residual self-image’ idea. When actress Belinda McClory auditioned for the role, she was going for only half the role - Switch’s Matrix form. Warner Brothers made the decision to cut this and give Switch one form for both environments.

  • I’m criticising your use of the tool in posting as well as commenting because you’re either intentionally or too stupid to realise it’s leading you around in circles e.g.

I’m also not claiming automation is the only way Lemmy can grow. I’m saying it’s one tool for solving the empty-community problem. If you have a better scalable way to get thousands of mostly dead communities active, great. Build it.

Does not make fucking sense as a response to my point. Only an idiot prompt fondling their argument would think this is somehow a passable or logical reply. You’re arguing for automation, not that it’s the only way, nor did I claim you said it’s the only way. It’s practically a non-sequitur. Christ I have to restate your argument for you that’s how bad it is. It’s why your post/reply get downvoted consistently, because you value any output over all else, even if it’s trash you claim to be curated. It’s noise.

Build it? Build fucking what. Actually read what people type and understand it instead of feeding it to an LLM in a vain hope to convince people of your POV. I and most people here don’t want inorganic growth or “”tools””. If some community are empty, low traffic then people can populate them when and if there is enough desire. Do you understand that?

Also you don’t write shit, you don’t create content and you don’t curate anything. You vibe code AI to do these things for you with a minimal amount of input. Either way, I’m arguing with an LLM essentially. Cya never hopefully.

  • I doubt you’ve made multiple profitable businesses if you can’t even make your own arguments and just copy paste LLM output between comments. Not that it matters if it is somehow true.

Prioritising growth is practically antithetical to decentralisation and the fediverse in general. If the growth takes longer, so be it. Lemmy has grown in the relatively short time I’ve been here. Noticeably so and a majority done without shitty bot posting and AI posting. People who join here typically hate that shit and the glorious algorithm TM. Again you’re attempting to conflate the growth/health of Lemmy with serial bot posting and AI posting. The former does not require the latter. The majority of internet sites grew without the latter. The majority of people here don’t like the latter and don’t think the former is worth it. No amount of jank LLM output, because to you’ve had to make it argue your perspective for you, will change that. Anyway I’ve not going to waste further time on this with someone too lazy to formulate and type their own response.

  • It did in good part for me but full disclosure I’ve only played a few hours on a free weekend but still intend to pick it up. I’d say it definitely will but there’s something to be said for the transition from top down to first person. There’s a specific feeling to setting up an entire block in factorio to be a nuclear power plant and block clearing artillery trains that I’m not sure exist in satisfactory. That said I largely haven’t picked up satisfactory yet because I strongly suspect it will consume a month of my life at least when I do.

  • Shadow of Mordor - Got a steam controller recently, still very satisfying and fun to play even if I prefer the sequel.

Quake - The first instalment got a remaster for the 30th anniversary. I’ve always been a Q2 guy personally and have many fond memories playing it at a mates place in primary school. Very much appreciating 1 again with the remaster though.

Factorio - Every so often I still get a craving for this even if the space age release really took a lot of the shine off it for me personally. Still enjoy it but doubt I’ll even make it to rocket launch this run.

Vintage story - Not really a patient game. Very much enjoyed it, very comfy, managed to get a good farm going, some chicken/boars and to Bronze Age. Will probably scape through winter but having recently started the search for iron will probably drop it until further updates.

  • Not sure what in my comment is deserving of the hostility but anyway. Nor given the way my comment is phrased, do I think I’m trying to pass myself off as an expert. Just very doubtful of the implication that this guy is going to walk out without a charge.

The modification is usually just that the car shuts off in less than a minute

Which as I suggested, allows for the intent to be demonstrated. My point was a fake car would be pointless, so the point of “it’s still a real car” falls flat. (Edit: also joyriding is still a crime. Hardly funsies)

    Tap for spoiler

    Elements of Grand Theft Auto

Generally, a prosecutor charging grand theft auto will need to show that the defendant drove or otherwise took possession of a motor vehicle owned by someone else. The defendant must not have had the permission of the owner. In addition, a prosecutor must prove that the defendant intended to deprive the owner of the vehicle.

In general the value of the object determines misdemeanor/felony. Which I’m assuming you might not know, is a huge difference.

Which I agree means he’s not likely to get a full felony charge, but since he broke rule 1 of interacting with the police and admitted to thinking they had value in a statement (allegedly). He could still be facing at least attempted criminal mischief for vandalism (I think). Which isn’t as bad but still potentially a felony.

“When asked how much he believes the camera costs to replace, he stated approximately $1,000-$5,000 proving that Meyer knew it was an expensive real piece of equipment and not a fake replica,” the police report states.

Though the police wording is borderline nonsensical.

Crimes under the felony threshold should be charged as misdemeanor equivalents…

Cops never do that, for reasons you alluded to in your top comment, to deter others from doing it and hoping something sticks. My main point was claiming the had he’s unlikely to be charged is a bit of a stretch.
