Hello, author of the post here.
From experience trying to get people to try the Threadiverse, mentioning defederation instantly kills the small interest people might have in the platform as it’s “too hard to understand”.
Location can matter for people who want to use an instance from their country. That post was also written during the “Boycott USA” era from a while ago, when people wanted to use websites managed close to where they lived.

Piefed and Mbin have that feature
Thank you !
Thank you, that’s what I thought.
What is your stance on this? Are you ok with storing photos unencrypted on Hetzner?
Thank you for sharing this!
Quick question: did you set up any encryption to prevent Hetzner from seeing your photos? That’s usually the topic that keeps coming up when people say they prefer to self-host Immich on their own hardware

Sounds good!

Your community is more likely to survive, as you are known to be an active poster, and Lemmy.zip has a very good track record.
Also I just checked, your community already has more subscribers.

You’re right.
Actually I just reread the thread where I saw Fritz mentioned, seem like both indeed use Asian chips: https://old.reddit.com/r/BuyFromEU/comments/1tgehr7/tough_one_any_network_electronics_made_in_eu_like/

which is better than nothing…
Yeah, that’s probably it. Unfortunately, as you said, options are limited.

Seems to be made in Asia from what I read

Do you know of any European alternative that would be better?
Very cool, good luck @vicinus@piefed.zip !
Nice to see it coming back!
Same here, but good luck with that
Well done!
