I asked her about it, and she said that she won’t hijack the community from the existing team, but she’d be willing to point people to a community made alternative if it spins up. Not necessarily the decision i would have made, but i understand and respect it.

No, because I’m not. This was what i experienced when i first came to lemmy a bit over a year ago (i think? It was when reddit made their api paid). Things may have changed since, i wouldn’t know since i blocked the instance after i was sure of what was going on after like a month.

i doubt they’d have time to drown tbh, at depth a small leak is likely to cause immediate and sudden implosion, instantly crushing anyone inside. not sure how that would play out in a larger non-circular space though like rapture.
