  • I mean, that’s a broad question. Personally? Practically? Politically? Constitutionally?

Legally-speaking, this is not something the President can unilaterally do. Theoretically they could amend the Constitution to accomplish the former and allow for the latter, but the chances they could actually do so are next to nil.

Could a President do it anyway? Well, maybe… It seems very unlikely that this would survive public scrutiny, and even the corruption-captured Courts would have a very difficult time trying to justify any of it under existing frameworks.

The “retroactively” part would probably be a particularly difficult hurdle. The US Constitution has protections against Ex Post Facto criminalization, and revocation of pardons would almost certainly violate that principle. Ditching that protection would be wildly unpopular, since it would allow for things like passing a law that would, for example, having ever received an abortion in the past. Or, having ever so much as touched a firearm.

  • Trump initially indicated that he wanted to build a ballroom, but that none of the East Wing would’ve been touched. As with any significant government building, there’s a good amount of history and significance to the East wing. It’s also where guests would enter and hosted the First Lady’s office/staff.

Trump then proceeded to ignore the standard rules/requirements for making changes to the building, which he doesn’t have unilateral authority to do. He leveled the East Wing, and spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the project during a government shutdown, money which was essentially pilfered from other allocations IIRC.

Despite various attempts to check his illegal construction efforts, he has continued unabated. Some of the funding has also come from “private donors” which has pretty transparently been influence bribery from important figures and CEOs and stuff.

There’s been a lot to it over time, but that’s some of the broad strokes.

  • Join servers on your behalf would be required to do something like “Join the World of Warcraft community server” or “join your guild’s Discord server” buttons. Theoretically permanent links could work here, but Discord has made permanent linking harder to do for legitimate reasons, and it wouldn’t work for smaller servers.

Email and third-party connections seem questionable. Why should Blizzard need to know my Discord account’s email?

  • A futurist is someone who has an interest in or studies the possible futures of our world, and who generates work related to their predictions of the same. It’s a pretty broad term, and would encompass certain academics, as well as writers and other enthusiasts. Their basis in evidentiary processes is obviously going to vary greatly, by it’s not necessarily accurate to say that they are simply guessing. It’s not a licensed term, but neither is “author” or “crypto-bro” or “politico” and yet one can certainly be any of those without any credentials.

There are certainly some elements of guesswork and hypothesis in any predictive field. Certainly there will be authors out there who might style themselves as futurists, but whose works are much closer to fantasy than speculative science fiction. I (personally) think it would be grossly inaccurate to call Star Wars a futurist work, for example. But I think one can easily look at the history of technological and social developments and create something that is a reasonable prediction of the future. I think Weir does a respectable job of portraying a mostly-plausible scenario in The Martian, by comparison. Asimov’s work has various examples that could probably be called Futurist, as well.

Why might a director or script writer consult with such individuals? Well, partially I suspect it’s to claim that they did. It’s a headline and marketing thing, of course. But also, because they’re making a piece of media that’s not necessarily in an area that they’re intimately familiar with. Even if you’ve made several science fiction movies before, I think it’s probably obvious that taking advice from someone who has spent thousands of hours considering the minor nuances and smaller details of something would have some useful insights.
