  • No.

I have no idea what anyone is on about here. Games are cheap and consoles are cheap, crazy cheap when you calculate for inflation.

If you go back in time w/ inflation, they were vastly more expensive. In the 90s and 2000s I ways paying 40-80 dollars a game, in today’s money that’s 100-200 bucks. Today when I buy a game I’m paying like 10-30 dollars in 2026 money. I bought a PS1 in 1996 for $250, in today’s money that… $500. Same price as a PS5… which is what I paid for a PS5 two years ago.

I just think the lot of you are whiny and entitled, you all seem to think you should have a brand new console for $100 and AAA games should be $20 on new release. If you wait a year after release they usually go on sale for 20-30 bucks anyway. But why pay for anything when you can just pirate everything?

Then you rant about how PC gaming is so cheap, but yesterday people were talking about how the gaming PCs they wanted were now 3000-4000 dollars… that’s 6-8x what a PS5 costs. I have never seen this magical $1000 or less gaming PCs people talk about on here. I work in IT and a base level office PC is $1200-1500, and the last gaming PC I helped someone build was over $2000 for a very low/mid spec build. I gave up PC gaming 15 years ago because graphics cards were more than price of an whole gaming console, and my budget for a PC was always under $1000, so graphic cards were not even an option.

I have a ps5 and a switch 2 and they are both amazing machines and the games great and worth every penny. PS4 was probably the greatest console I ever owned in terms of the quality of games and how little they cost.

  • No, not since they became available in 4K/HD versions for cheap on newer consoles.

Only time I would break it out is if the game wasn’t available in a modern platform. the QoL enhancements are just… such a time saver.

the OG load times and play mechanics that were used to just pad everything out… just suck balls to deal with today. There is nothing ‘retro cool’ about having to sit through a FF7 summon sequence 10 times in a boss fight and having it be an extra 10 minutes. Thank god for the FF feature on my PS5 version of the game.

When I was 12 years old and it was 1997, yeah it was fine because we didn’t know any better and time wasn’t valuable.

  • it’s only trolling to you because you’re 100% wrong. look at the deaf community, plenty of other disable communities would rather not be disabled, and often do have the choice but choose to remain disabled. because it doesn’t mean their life is ‘less than’, like you imply. hell plenty of disable people live fully richer lives than ‘abled’ people, because well, they choose too. plenty of overweight abled people who can’t walk a half mile vs people who don’t even have legs who can do marathon.

yeah, the overweight fat people who can’t walk a mile also think they ‘aren’t fully in control’ of themselves too.

  • it’s deeper than that. the people who insist on this are… people who want to obfuscate the problems. because the reality of them are too harsh for them to emotionally accept.

The truth is there are legit homeless people… people who actively refuse shelters and social services and prefer to live on the streets, many of whom are criminal and can’t be in the shelters because they want to use drugs, abuse people, and steal shit… but the acknowledgement of this is not possible for people who insist ‘no they are just not getting enough help/stigmatized’. these are the types of folk who think everyone is inherently good and wonderful and it’s the evil bad world that made them bad people…

Most homeless folks are only temporarily homeless and most are like living out of a car or other temporary situation.

But those folks can’t acknowledge any complexity of any issue. because it terrifies them that other people are different than them… or exist outside of the limits of their small imaginations… so they want to shrink the world to fit into their comfortable headspace with euphemisms. and they want to naively believe that all problems are just because ‘other people are mean’ or something that’s kindergarten level way of looking at the world.

And you’ll notice the people who push these agendas… often come from wealthy privledged backgrounds… part of their whole shtick is using euphemisms so they don’t have to feel guilty about their own privileges… privileges which they are actively hostile to in other people but refuse to acknowledge in themselves. they will go so far to claim not being homeless makes you ‘privledged’ but won’t acknowledge that they live in a condo their parents bought for them, while you rent with 2 roommates, etc.

If you ask me it’s just a product of very sheltered people who are basically ‘allergic’ to reality because they never had to deal with it, like these folks never lived in a place where homelessness was a problem, so they can’t understand how it is a problem for anyone else, and if you got robbed/assaulted by a homeless person, you deserved it or something. And if you grew up in a town with problems like homeless and drug use where everyday things… you are basically evil and awful in these people’s eyes.

I grew up in a diverse town with a poverty rate of 15%. I had friends in grammar school who were sometimes homeless. I meet people now who grew up in towns with 3-4% poverty rates… which are mostly just old folks on social security.

  • all I know is every ‘safespace’ is a space full of bullies who feel they need the world to conform to their beliefs and hatreds where diversity of ideas and opinion are forbidden.

the issue is people confuse safety with control.

i have no idea what a ‘comfortable space’ is. I guess a space where you don’t feel like you are walking on eggshells? i guess that would be a place where people are grown up and mature enough to chill out.

i don’t use discord or most anything social media. i don’t live on the internet or communicate with people via it very much. i mostly make phone calls and interact with people in person.
