Yep, I know that you ment it that way. I’m saying that it doesn’t make sense that way. If you want to give proof that there’s more potential than 1%, then you have to compare with the general search terms. Turns out, the numbers are less than 1%. There’s no pontential.
It’s certainly not from a lack of user interest. Search terms like “facebook alternatives” have absolutely skyrocketed to unprecedented levels in the last couple years
Your certainty will be the mistake here. What does “skyrocketed” mean? From 10 search requests to 100? J/K. But: Is it more than the 1% of users? I doubt it. Most people are not interested at all in stuff like this. They go where everybody is, simple as that.
So go figure:

Interesting, how different people can look at things. But, calling it unplayable is really odd.

true. But in hindsight, both were awesome with different aspects. Half-Life had a much more long-lasting experience through its modding capabilities - and an outstanding story. Unreal was visually and technically beautiful and had a mind-blowing athmosphere - but of course a single player game isn’t as longlasting as Half-Life was. (I know it had multiplayer, but at least in my perspective this was not Unreal’s focus - which changed dramatically with Unreal Tournament)

soulmate. I liked it as well. Of course it wasn’t groundbreaking, like Duke3D was, but it was fun. And it made fun of itself - I like that trait.

What? Who didn’t like Unreal? It was groundbreaking, a milestone of its time. In my area and peergroup, everybody loved it.

Wow, that’s late.
Congratulations. For me, it was also nearly two years of work, it’s just already a few years ago.

Most people don’t know: There’s a multiplayer variant of Civilization 1: CivNet. Barely playable today, as it’s a Windows 3.1 game. I loved it till late in the 2000s.
Well how could it? Of course the DNS provider needs to know the domain you want to look up - otherwise how would they be able to look it up?
Still it would fulfill the OP’s wish: He wants to hide traffic from his ISP, so if he chooses a DNS resolver other than his ISP, and encrypt transmission, goal is achieved.

You seem to have no clue of Discord’s business model - and those of other data scraping companies.

Too little, too late.

Oh wow, my reading competency is at max :-D Thanks.

I am really sorry that you have to live through this. I (middle-aged, white, cishet, more or less wealthy male) know that I’m super priviledged - yet reading posts like that show me that I will never be able to fully feel what you girls/women have to live through. I promise that I will fight against misogyny whereever I can.
And thank you for your post, there are really phrases that I wouldn’t have understood.

Lol

Don’t. It isn’t the internet who’s being an asshole. It’s men.

I do use QoS on my router, but that’s not what I want: I want it explicitly on OS level. If that doesn’t prioritize in the first place, it’s one hop lost with bad/missing prioritization. In my example, my bad ping was actually with enabled router-prioritization. It’s not enough.
Thanks for the links, I’ll check them out!
It’s not selfish. Data protection protects THEM as well.
