No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Would you rather be reincarnated into a world of magic or reborn as yourself (with your current knowledge fully intact)?
12·3 months agoIt would be the best, man. I miss her. I could do a lot of stuff differently, sure, but mostly I would just like to spend some time with her. She was awesome.
Someday I will finish watching Breaking Bad
Babylon 5 remains one of the greatest tv shows ever made, on par with Stargate.
He cheated on his wife, but loads of good writers do that. He was a raging douche to Charisma Carpenter and ruined her joy in her career. But he was a d remains a spectacular writer. Just a total hypocrite, like most people in Hollywood.

World News@lemmy.world•Six killed in Ukraine drone attack on Russian resortEnglish
302·3 months agoNah, try six killed when Russians down a drone over the beach instead of it hitting it’s intended military target. We see you.
My old landlord was a Vietnamese family who built an apartment complex for a family business instead of running a restaurant. I respected them, they kept the place in running order.
I feel like “landlord” is an easy group to hate, but some renters are absolutely filthy gross and I have seen what landlords sometimes deal with. No room for nuance here, of course, but how you do things matters a lot.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else experience stomach activations?
3·5 months agoDigestion is basically an input=output system.
That’s a very weird binary view. Do you think every situation involves one hero and one villain? I’d say many situations involve no heroes at all.
Yeah, gonna go against the grain and say he’s a self-centered douchebag who made everything worse. He didn’t “risk his life”. He risked life in prison - and defected to a MUCH worse country for very, very, very stupid reasons. Any “I did it for freedom” excuses he spouted, or that you ascribe to him, are public relations bullshit.
If he had any integrity he’d have just gone to jail. Instead he went to fucking Putin, like THAT’S supporting freedom.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your opinion, is space exploration necessary?
6·7 months agoFrom a risk assessment standpoint, space exploration is a VERY good investment. We need to be on multiple planets, preferably in multiple solar systems or even multiple galaxies.
BUT. It absolutely must be paired with NOT destroying the planet we have! This is the only planet we’ve got right now and the only one we’ve got a guarantee on habitability - if we don’t fuck it up.
So yes, space is vital. But so it protecting this place.
I want art of this now thanks

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How would you respond to the statement "Trans women are biologically male" ?English
41·7 months ago-
sex and gender are different things.
-
Trans women were biological males. But sex is determined by a lot of factors, including hormones. Trans folks often use man made chemicals to trigger sexual development into the sex they wanted.
Think of sex like a slider bar on a screen, with “male” on one side and “female” on the other. You start somewhere on the scale. With hormones you can put your finger on the slider and schwoop that lil sucker anywhere you want. It’s not just for trans folks though! Straights use the slider too. Wanna be more butch than you already are as a guy? Add testosterone! Going through menopause? Add estrogen!
The impact of opposite sex hormones to a trans person’s already developed sex organs is mostly to render them useless, but that’s fine, straights do that too, mostly on purpose. That’s what adoption is for. If a trans person wants to go all in on the change, they can get the reverse-that-thang surgery and turn that outie into an innie.
At that point, there’s like… Zero difference between a “natural born” woman who had a hysterectomy for some reason, and a trans woman.
It’s all very science fiction when you get into the details.

So what you’re saying is he’s a first amendment supporter with good aim who isn’t afraid to take direct action against federal surveillance overreach, right? I think you could sell this to the Republicans as a candidate just as easily as to the Democrats.
